Hi folks. Very new to the Flash Media Server. Have 2.0.3 installed on a W2k3 box. Pretty much spent all day looking for documentation to help me stream .flvs. I though the docs for CF were bad. :( I have no problem with the concept of getting a action script to call the server. However, everytime I try calling the server it tells me that the application isn't setup. So I go searching through the PDF that came with the install of the server, and it doesn't really talk about creating applications other than to click the button in the administrator to add a new instance. When I do that, nothing happens. Can anyone point me to the next step to do after the server is installed and is up and running? Also, I don't want this server to be an edge server. However, it seems to think it is one (maybe this is normal?). All the activity is going on in my edge.00.log files. Some of this is vague, I know, but I'm at a loss as to where to go next (short of calling support) to get this server up an
Hi, I have installed FMS2 on a computer with limited storage capacity. However, all my videos and media content is stored on another computer which I have access to with an internal IP (file://192.168.x.x/c$/media) So I wonder if there is any way of changing my apps streams/_definst_ directory to point to this remote computer's directory instead? Or is there an other method of streaming these files via my FMS? Trond
I have Flash Media Server 2 installed, and would like to write an application whereby two people can chat one on one. Now, I don't want to use simpleconnect, as I'd like to integrate this into an existing website with it's own authentication methods. I've been attempting to get it working, but although I can get the local webcam displaying fine, and can even tweak the quality etc., I can't for the life of me get it published remotely. If anyone has any pointers, that'd be great. So far with regard to the video publishing part of it, I've come up with: quote: localCam = Camera.get(); localVideo.attachVideo(localCam); sConn = new NetConnection(); sConn.connect("rtmp://localhost/1", "test"); lStream = new NetStream(rConn); lStream.publish(localCam); Also, am I right in thinking that to retrieve a webcam stream from the rtmp source, I would have to use http://host/appinstance/clientid ? Or would this not be the way?
Does FMS2 run on 64-bit edition of Windows 2003? I've found a cheap virtual server provider offering that OS... (and that's why I'm asking here - I can't test myself it before I buy that offer) Thank you Alex
I signed up with a FMS hosting service. They have a nice interface where I was able to install an application. I called it "simple", cause its bare bones simple. After installing, it gives me the rtmp connection string. Problem is - I get NetConnection.Connect.Rejected every time. I tried removing it, and installing again. But same thing. This is in frame 1. Is there something wrong with this? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- my_nc = new NetConnection(); my_nc.onStatus = function (info) { switch(info.code) { case "NetConnection.Connect.Success": textbox.text = "success" + "\n"; break; case "NetConnection.Connect.Rejected": textbox.text = "rejected" + "\n"; textbox.text += info.application.msg + "\n"; textbox.text += "Event: " + info.code + "\n"; textbox.text += "Type: " + info.level + "\n"; textbox.text += "Message:" + info.description + "\n"; break; case "NetConnection.Connect.Failed": textbox.text = "failed"; bre
The radio station where I work is considering switching from serving our online audio as RealMedia files via a RealMedia server to serving MP3 audio files via the Flash Media Server. We have many (as in thousands) of hour-long audio files where we want the end-user to only listen to a short section of the file, for instance from 50:25 into the file to 55:45 into the file. With Real, it's trivial to do this...just attach a ?start=50:25&end=55:45 query string to the URL of the RealAudio file, and the Real server starts playing at the correct point. Is this also doable with the Flash Media server using MP3 audio files (not flv files)? Is there a way to stream just a designated portion of an audio MP3, without the user having to download everything from the beginning of the file? This is a real deal breaker for us.
I have a windows xp computer and a windows 2003 server computer connected with a single network cable. I am running Flash Media Server on the server computer. My Flex Builder 2 application can connect to the Flash Media Server on the other computer, but I always get the following error when trying to use NetStream: nc.connect("rtmp://pb.local:1935/flexmediaservertest"); nsPublish = new NetStream(nc); .... ArgumentError: Error #2126: NetConnection object must be connected. What might be causing this error?
Hey gang, I am trying to dynamically create AVPresence instances as people log into the server on each client. Basically trying to re-implement the VideoConference component. Unfortunately when I try and create 2 AVPresence it seems they override each other even if I use different X/Y positions and use seperate Instance names and setUsername(). If someone could spot out my error that would be great. This is what I am doing: var instanceName = "presence_" + username; _root.attachMovie("FCAVPresenceSymbol", instanceName, 1, {_x:150, _y:150}); _root[instanceName].setUsername(username); _root[instanceName].connect(connection); Any help please?
I have isolated the problem and it´s seems to be concentrated to the path “mcForm.skickat eq "yes" below: (the serverside script is done in Php) I t seems like the form not works when it´s laying in a movieclip called mcForm with a send button simply called “send” I must place the form in a movieclip, because the form is doing a nice tweening made by Laco tweening method. Everything works fine if [bold]I don’t place[/bold] the form in a movieclip. Here´s a part of the actionscript in the main timeline navigation.swf: if (mcForm.skickat eq "yes") { gotoAndStop("labelFinished"); } Here´s the actionscript on the “send” button in mcForm in navigation.swf: on (release) { loadVariables(" http://www.homesit.se/phpmail.php", "", "GET"); _parent.play();//This statement is not the problem. } The timeline in navigations.swf does never reach the label “finished” This works fine if I don’t place the form in a movieclip in timeline navigation.swf: if (mcForm.skickat eq "yes") {
I have a Flex app that connects to FMS2. On one of my machines everything works just fine and I am able to connect without any problems. On the other machine I have I can't seemed to get a connection and it always throws a NetConnection.Connect.Failed message. When I look in the live server log I see the following error: "Asynchronous I/O operation failed (Failed to attach to the completion port: The parameter is incorrect. 87". The "Connections" tab on the "Manage Servers" section of the console shows a connect and disconnect for each time I try, but the application itselt shows no activity. It looks as though the connection is being immediately dropped. The applications are identical. I have removed all anti-virus, firewall programs from the machine and I thought that they might be causing problems with connecting to that socket/port. Does anyone have any ideas about what might be causing this problem?
I have FMS 2 running on it's own server, seperated from the IIS server. It's running on port 80, and in our code, we refer to port 80 in RTMP calls (rtmp://www.domain.com:80/application) After much testing, we have verified that outside users on the internet can interact with and view our site without any issues. When our intended audience attempts to view the site, they can see the assets in their origianal state, but none of our interactive / rtmp based content is working. We moved over to port 80 when we first realized that they were having issues viewing this content. I asked them to visit the port testing page at Adobe.com. They have shown failed for RTMP on ports 80, 443, and 1935. What else can be done? If I can make this work, I have a job for the next 18 months. If not, I'm looking for work by end of next week. Any thoughts are appreciated.
I've been on the phone with Adobe for 3.4 hours now. I've been transfered from Dan in Customer Serivce (45 min wait) to Garry ? in Enterprise Customer Serivce to someone in presales, and now I'm just not writing down names any more as I'm just getting exhausted. My question should be simple enough - my company is considering using Media Server, and I've been asksed to show a quick and dirty demo of how our product would look in a shared user environment. According to the Adobe site, the Flash Media Server trial is fully functioning, only limited by a 10 user max. I assume this means that i can place a copy on our web server, and our bosses downtown can use the internet to view this site, correct? I have a very, very simple Flash Comm 1.5 example called shared ball on our server. Anyone inside our network can visit our company site and see the ball move as other users move it. When someone outside of our network looks, the ball stays still. We've updated the router to do port mapping fo
im trying to save my flash video as a flv but when saving the document i only get offered to save the file as a fla? can somone please tell me why. dreamweaver wont let me insert a video if it is not saved as aflv
Hello, I was searching about this, but until now I found no sufficient or clear answer..... Which communication component set ( and where can you download them ) can be used to develop for FCS 1.5 in Flash 8 Pro ? I'd like to use the AVPresence, Chat, etc..... This is a serious request, not targeting to get the answer "It is better to code them yourself" . The fact is, that it is necessary to know about the compatibility. So please be kind and try to clear or explain the circumstances to me. I'd like to start coding but feel blocked by the simple question which components (FCS V1, V2 or FMS) I should install. Thanks in advantage MIBtwo
Hello, as we all know that when we play a flv file on the web, for example playing a file on YouTube, the file is cached on "Temporary Internet Files" folder. Is there a way to prevent a flv file from being cached? Is using Flash Media Server to stream a video file via rtmp the only solution? If someone knows the answer, please let mw know. Thank you so much for your help in advance.
How to know Flash media server 2 check client is not connect( i have meet problem client fall net work but FMS2 is not know client is not connect )
I'm making a presentation to be viewed on 30 tablet PCs. The PCs are all wirelessly connected to a laptop running Windows Server 2003 with Flash Media Server2. The slide presentation on the tablets is controlled by an "admin" swf running on the laptop server. This all works brilliantly, but now I want to allow someone to participate in the presentation from a remote computer on the internet. Is it possible for my admin laptop to connect to the local flash media server AND a Flash Com server on my web server (media temple) ? Can I have two instances of the simple conect component pointing to different servers?
Sometimes when a nestream is published to FMS and recorded the first part of the stream stalls on frame one and then the rest of the stream plays out. Is there a way to avoid this stalling?
I got a copy of the DEV package. I was told to try it out and see if it does what I need before we buy the full blown thing. I have been beating my head against the wall all day trying to get this thing to work. We have installed it every way from sunday and still, we try to connect to the server that we can SEE is running via ps -e.. no luck. We go to the fms2_console.swf (I think that is the name...) and we type in the localhost as the server name (since we simply installed it into the httpd directory and took the defaults) It asked to install into /opt/macromedia... we let it It asked for the ports, we put those in, not much of a big thing there. It asked for nobody for a name and group, we said okay. It asked to be run as a Daemon.. we said sure. It asked for 2 weeks paid vacation, we told it to hit the road... not really, just seeing if you were paying attention. We approved the vacation. We let it finish the install (after we gave it a username and a password. We then load
Hello, I'm working on a FMS2 project and would like to know if its possible to seperate the FMS2 server with the FLV files. What i want i a server with FMS2 installed on it and where users do their requests. When a FLV movie is requested, the FMS2 directs to the FLV on the hosting server (with bigger bandwidth capacity). So the only thing the FMS2 is get the FLV from the other server and sends it to the user.. (VOD). On the FMS2 will only host Flash applications. I guess this would be possible, because with big traffic one server isn't capable to handle the video's.. Greets, Paul Merks

Hey gang. I am new to Flash & FlashCom so please bare with me but I have been learning very quickly. I am writting a FlashCom video conferencing application. All is well I have learned AS very fast on both FlashCom and Flash client sides. One part where I get really confused is the use of the FlashCom Components. They work "seamlessly" when you drop a SimpleConnect component but when you do a connection of your own via code VideoConference, TextChat and all these components do not work. Doing a videoConference.Connect(conn); doesn't seem to do anything. It works with the ConnectionLight however but any other component I try does not work. I've tried putting it before/after my conn.connect() but neither makes a difference. Could someone help give me some insight on how to hook up the components when using my own NetConnection via AS code? Thanks and take care.
Help. we cannot get FMS 2 to work. we have set the server up on an IIS box, with its own IP address. similar to http://www.flashcomguru.com/tutorials/fcs_iis.cfm we have changed the <HostPort>123.123.123.2:1935,80,443</HostPort> and well. we still cannot get this to work Are there any more settings we should change within any of the associated files to ensure FMS 2 works. At the moment I'm lost. and extremely disapointed with the documentation Steve
I am trying to find a way to create a playlist of videos uploaded to a website. What I am trying to find out is, does Flash Media Server have a component that when a video is uploaded it will generate on the fly a jpg thumbnail of that video? What I am trying to do is create sometime (on a much smaller scale) as youtube. Will purchasing Flash Media Server help me accomplish that? Or does anyone know how youtube created their thumbnail images of the videos? Thanks
Hello, I am new to actionscripting but not Flash, I am using Flash MX 2004 for a college project at the moment. I have created an interface which features four buttons, each button activates a different movie clip. This works fine but only on the first time to press the button if you press the button again the movie clip does not play again, I would like the movie clip to play EVERY time the button is pressed. Here is the script that I have created in a seperate layer called actions, if that helps: ellaimage._visible = false Betaimage._visible = false Yakuzapic._visible = false Pornopic._visible = false boxmovie._visible = false Betabox._visible = false textboxmc._visible = false Yakuzabox1._visible = false Pornobox1._visible = false pellabutton.onRelease = function () { stop (); Betaimage._visible = false Yakuzapic._visible = false Pornopic._visible = false textboxmc._visible = false Betabox._visible = false Pornobox1._visible = false Yakuzabox1._visible = false boxmovie.
