Hello, I installed FMS 2.0 develper version on a RedHat 3.0 and cannot initialize the server corerctly, when starting it using 'fmsmgr server fms start' or '/etc/init.d/fms start' the only process created is 'fmsadmin -console -conf ./conf/Server.xml' there is no sign of fmsedge, fmscore or fmsadmin therefore there is no listener on port 1935. The result is I can connect to the console but cannot initialize any applications for streaming or logging through the console. I've tried different user ownerships and port numbers and nothing has worked. I'm pretty certain there is no firewall active in the server and no other process is listening on 1935. I can't think of anything else to try, any pointers? Thanks!
I encountered this dimishing bandwidth problem in my Flash Media Server 2.02. I am using the Bandwidth Checker at http://www.flashcomguru.com/apps/bwcheck/ to measure the bandwidth to my FMS. When the system is rebooted, the bandwidth is: Upstream: 3164 Kbits/sec Downstream: 2969 Kbits/sec Latency: 5 ms At the end of the day, even when there is no connection to the FMS, the bandwidth is: Upstream: 105 Kbits/sec Downstream: 201 Kbits/sec Latency: 255 ms And it occurs everyday so I had to reboot the system every time. Did anyone encounter the same problem?
How do i kill the sound on an FLV file with action script? I just want a simple on and off switch.
Hi I have new project that show movie from server this move is not flv can i play .mov move through Flash Media Server or i must changed its type to flv before playing it
I'm interested in setting up a Flash Media Server but notice no version avaiable for a Macintosh Server. Does anyone know if there will ever be a Mac version or if there is a way to run the Linux version on a Mac? Thanks.
I am trying to find the actual flv file for conversion (a whole different issue I know), but it is not where I would have thought it would be. I am looking under this path and am not finding it: C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash Communication Server MX\flashcom\applications\MY_APPLICATION_NAME\_desktopShare_\desktopShare_out Where "desktopShare_out" is the name of the stream and "_desktopShare_" is the room name. I'm using Flashcom 1.5 Any ideas on where I should look for it? -- BackBayChef www.how2dance.com
I am building a live video/audio interview application. Is it possible to record from stream1 video + audio and mix it with the audio from stream2?
Hi, I am trying to use FLASH Comm Server 1.5 on 2 servers in a cluster. The two servers ar not synchornized, and depending on which one you get assigned to, the shared object states are different. Is there a solution ? Mario F. Alvarez
Hi, I have following queries related to Flash/Flash Media Server: a) The ITU (International Telecommunications Union) has come up with different standards and protocols for videoconferencing e.g. H.323, H.320 etc. Of these, H.323 is the standard for videoconferencing over TCP/IP networks. If I develop a videoconferencing / multimedia chat application using Flash Media Server, which of the ITU standards if any will it conform to, if any? If not, has Macromedia developed its own standard? b) Which video codec does the latest Flash video use? Is it ‘Spark codec’ by Sorenson or VP6 codec by On2? c) Which audio codec does flash use? Many Thanks, essaeyu
Hey All, I am using the Video Conference sample application that comes with FCS. I am wondering if there is a way to change the default video size. When I say video, I am referring to the Users Camera Window in the actual Flash application. Also I am assuming that I can post questions about FCS (I know that this is the new FMS forum), if I am wrong please direct me to the right location. Your help is much appreciated. Thanks, Matt
Hi everyone, I've acquired a security cam to test a video-chat with FMS2 and encounter a problem with the resolution of my cam. It's a CPcam CPC371P and It is said to have a resolution of 510*492 (certain sites speak of standard resolution?). I wrote two simple applications, one to send the cam stream and one to receive it, here is the code of both my applications : Send.fla: var my_nc = new NetConnection(); cam = Camera.get(IndexCam); cam.setQuality(0,80); cam.setMode(510,492,15,false); my_vid.attachVideo(cam); my_nc.connect("rtmp://server.no-ip.org/tchat_cam/"); ns = new NetStream(my_nc); ns.attachVideo(cam); ns.publish("webcam","live"); receive.fla var my_nc = new NetConnection(); my_nc.connect("rtmp://server.no-ip.org/tchat_cam/"); ns = new NetStream(my_nc); my_vid.attachVideo(ns); ns.play("webcam"); As you can see, nothing really complicated. The applications work perfectly but no matter the resolution I choose, the image seems to be extrapolated and pixellised. I t
Can somebody tell me if there is a version of Flash media server for Debian Linux?
Hello, I just install FCS in Fedora Core 4 and have 2 problems: - cannot restart the server from admin console, I receive this message: Restart of server: Unsuccessful error description:Failed to start server. - some user remain in user list after they leave from room, so onDisconnect function don't work anytime Applications which I use work fine on other servers, how can I solve this problems? I know Fedora Core 4 is not in macromedia requirments for FCS but many people install FCS and work good in this platform.
Over the last few years we have developed a Flash based videoconferencing tool which uses the flashmedia server. Recently clients using this have complained of problems with audio, and this would appear to be specifically related to people who have installed the Flash 9 player. The people listening with a flash 9 player to a live broadcast hear the audio as broken/bubbly/interupted (difficult to exactly explain the effect), However people in the same meeting, listening to the same audio stream, but with Flash 8 players don't have this problem. Further evidence of this being a problem with the Flash 9 player is that the flv files recorded on the flash media server are ok and don't have any breaks etc. We have experimented with Mac and PC with Flash 9 players installed and the problem seems to apply to both platforms. We have also tried other audio/ video flash programs that use the flash media server (some which use the pre-built Flash components for such applications) and the proble
We have just installed Flash Media Server 2 on a server here at ISU. I have access to the Macromedia/Flash directory and can place .asc files with in the applications folder with in this directory. I can access the management console as well. I tried to create a sample application provided in the book Flash Professional 8 Lesson 10. It deals with creating a video streaming application that calls an FLV file from the FMS2 and is supposed to load or attach the FLV to the SWF that makes the call. Guess what (probably to no ones surprise) it doesn't work I am going to include the .asc script and the script for the player. .asc Script: load("components.asc"); application.onConnect = function( newClient, newUserName, test){ gFrameworkFC.getClientGlobals(newClient).username = newUserName; // set the user name for any UI component we may have application.acceptConnection(newClient); //unconditionally accept our connection trace("Hello: " + newUserName); } Action Script with in the Fla file
Hi everyone, i have a very simple problem: in the main.asc file on the server i am just rejecting connections to every client with rejectConnection. Now, if a connection is rejected from a client, the NetConnection connection is closed and also in the management console noone is connected to the application. Still, after 10x (developer edition) being rejected, the server automatically rejects all clients due to license limitations! Any idea? If i am not rejecting clients on the server side everything works fine, max. 10 connection at one time and working nice. Tnx
Is there a way to point the FMS Application to load streams from a different directory than the one under the application. for example FMS app is at c:\FMSApplications\App1\Streams\EnglishStreams i want App1 to load it's streams from a network share \\netShare\Streams\EnglishStreams i played around with VHost.xml but can't get anywhere... any ideas?
Hello, Do I need to install IIS for FMS2 to work ? I installed FMS2 Developer edition on my WinXP but I couldn't get the sample app. to work. Please help. thanks, Dan C.
While developing a large FMS application, main.asc has become more than a bit lengthy. The bulk of the file is taken up by the custom client functions that are created anonymously under the onConnectAccept function. (ex newClient.myFunction = function(param1, param2) { //do stuff } I tried splitting some of the (hundreds of) functions into seperate files then I used load() under the onConnectAccept function. I think since these functions are created during runtime, the load function is not appropriate (triggered on compile time). Is there some way to split these functions into seperate files?
Has any of the developers try to use publish settings as Version : Flash Player 8.0 and Actionscript settings: Actionscript 2.0 with the communication components like Audio conference, Instant poll, Chat, User Color etc. I tested Instant Poll, Chat, Color, but they dont seem to be working fine. Instant poll doesn't work at all. Changing colors doesnt have any effect on public chat text. Chat works but not like its suppose to. Does any one know the solution or we have to stick to Version: Flash Player 6.0. Any help will be appreciated Thanks
i installed flash communication server mx 1.5 development edition and i tried to connect to it from the administration console but i can't the error message is:failed to connect to server the username and password are correct what is the problem?
Are you sure Media Server 2 is worth it? There's not all that much new since 1.5, and it costs $4,500 for 150 connections! Divide that up and 50 connections is worth $1,500. Why would you want to pay $4,500 for a small project when FCS 1.5 Personal was $499? They might've stopped selling them, but I have one left. It is from a download purchase, so you will receive the serial number, and proof of legitimacy. All rights over the license will be transferred to you upon payment. The following specs are taken from: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashcom/productinfo/pricing/ Macromedia Flash Communication Server MX 1.5 Personal Edition Maximum Megabits per second: 1 Maximum Connections: 50 Price: $499 Expiration: Never
Hi Folks, Let's try this again. If I set up a page with a single flv playing off our Flash Media Server 2, everything works just fine. If I create a page with several flv files on it, some of them load and then I get nailed with Certificate Alerts. All of the videos are coming from the same server, same designation and work fine - just not when there are several of them on the same page. Thoughts and comments are most welcomed Thanks - Greg
I want to create a shared object which contains an array of objects. I want to have functions the client can call to add, delete, and update items in the shared object, but there do not seem to be any mechanisms for that. Anyone have any ideas I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Chester
I have created a video chat application, but the resolution of the video is poor. I have both the bitrate and quality high, but it seems like the horizontal and vertical resolution is low. Is there a way to set the with and height of the captured camera input?
