Media Server (read-only)

Hi all, I have researched the Server.xml file in FMS2. This file have property : quote: <!-- Max connections requests that can be pending. Connections will be rejected if queue size limit is reached. --> <!-- -1 = default = 1000. --> <MaxConnectionQueueSize>-1</MaxConnectionQueueSize> Have SO known that how many connections can be supported by FMS2 ? ( or maximum is 1000 ? ) Thanks

I am really new to this, and can't sem to find basic examples of how to use flash media server.... If any one knows of any good websites/tutorials (not books) with info on this subject please let me know. I don't even know if I have installed the developers edition correctly on my harddrive. When I press 'start media server' nothing happens. With apache I can see that the server is running. (there is an icon that lets you know)...infact what even is media server 2.... Does it support php? mysql? or does it run in conjunction with apache. Any advise would be great.thanks.

I have been deverloping with FCS up until now . I would like to start trying some Flex 2 and FMS development. My question is can they exist together on a development box and if not can anyone suggest a developement setup.... also can FMS support applications that have been developed with FCS? My current development setup is Flashcom and Flash8 on a XP box and Flashcom on a sever 2003 box. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Hi again, I've been working a lot with already existing videos, streaming local cams, and recording vids, and I've used the flash com server for all my work... It was a really good deal, and i am satisfied about what i have reached so far. Anyway, now i am facing a new requirement of streaming TV channels. Is it possible to continue using macromedia products in that field? there is a lack of resources regarding this issue, and I really would like to use the FMS in this too. Please advice whether is there a possibility, and which is better to be used. Thanks in advance.

hi, im streaming video over my server, everything is fine if the islive option is "false", but when i set it to "true", i can see the streaming connection on my FMS2 managment console however the webpage is just blank. no movie is displayed... why does this happen ? anyone pls help .. thanks

Hi all, I've created a logging system on FMS2 server-side. Every log will be stored in an text file. So far so good, I can create files, write to the files, appand to the files. Then I loop trought all the files (I can get a nice array off all the files in the log directory), send the info from the file to ASP, and when I get an loadVars success I want to remove the log-file. Hello Group, I have developed a simple video conferencing application using communication components - avpresence(3),peoplelist,chat,simpleconnect,connectionlight etc.. But i need some more functionalities Like when a user clicks on a particualr user in the people list then n then his video should be displayed. The status of the users (with webcam or without) should be displayed in the people list wih their name..and many more. What would be good for me either creating my own components or modifying the existing components of Macromedia and how. Pls. give me some hint or links where i can find help regarding this. Hello all, I am new to flash but have a development background in Java and PHP etc... so have no problem understanding code. I have a client who wants to try out the Media Server. so I downloaded the developers edition which is cool then the sample apps. I worked with some and got them working. What I would really love is a basic step-by-step tut on how to setup a video file (flv) on the FMS and test the streaming by calling a web page with a flash object that plays the movie with the rtmp protocol. Before yesterday, our 'streaming' server (still in Beta) was configured for Windows Media Services and Darwin in anticipation of streaming Quicktime and WindowsMedia files. However, administration had selected to change courses and go with Flash... Yesterday, I installed FMS2.0.1 on our 'streaming' server (Win2k3). This server is partitioned into two drives...FMS installed on C, while all the HD space has been set-up for D in anticipation of storing all the Flash media files that users create. On another server, we have IIS installed, and use Microsoft Content Management Server/SQL Server to create web pages. Hello, I'm fairly new to Flash and I've searched online to try to find someone else with this issue but no luck so far. I'm trying to follow along some basic "chat room" tutorial. However, when I publish, the premade chat component shows up with no button and no where to enter text. All I see is the scroll bar "shadow" - there isn't even a line around the chat window. Some of the components seem to be fine though, like the connection light and simple connect. I'm using Flash 8 Professional. I'm on Windows XP I have a trial version of FCS on my machine. I am using Flash MX to fade out my index page. The fade out works fine. I consider the fading out process to be my movie. I would like to insert a button/click to indicate to the user to start the movie/fading out process at will. This is my problem. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi, Its easy to grap php sessions from client side flash ,but how can i pass the user session id to server side asc. I want to write some text to a database when the user close the browser and trigger the application.onDisconnect function. Its no problem with loadVars but how can i pass the client session id to the server side application.onDisconnect function. Thx

Hello all, We have some video streaming through FMS. All is well for almost all who view, but unfortunately our client is behind a massive firewall and who knows what else and has issues seeing it... It will actually stream, but it takes about 3-4 minutes for it to start, and then some times it will have trouble playing through the entire video. I know they can see other sites that stream Flash content like army.com and foxnews.com, and it works great. Is this just just an encoding issue, or could it be a problem with the FMS setup, or something elese?

I'm trying to use an onsync handler so that when a player clicks a movieclip on stage and moves it, the same movieclip moves on all other clients. Does anyone know if there are components for Flash Comm 1.5 to use in Flash 8. We have both a Media Server 2 and Older Flash Comm 1.5 and we use both. Or if the new 2 components will work with 1.5? Thanks

Our company is spec'ing out a new server for FMS. We will start with a single license but I'm sure we will expand after the initial rollout and testing. The hardware recommendations on the Macromedia site are less than helpful. We are looking at an HP 585 2 X Dual-Core Xeon with 4GB of PC3200 RAM. Is this enough? Too much? This is a $8000 server. It seems like overkill to me but I have nothing to put it up against. I would like to know what type of servers this group is using and what you feel is a good setup for your purposes. I appreciate your time with this in advance.

How can i make my own media controller but have diffrent looks to it. i also want to know how can i hide it ? i mean like the media controller component in flash player, when u hover over it , the controller is visible , but when u take your mouse away from it, it hides?

I last touched Flash back in 2004MX, haven't bought the version 8 upgrade yet, and my actionscript is a bit rusty. I'm interested in trying to learn the Flash Media Server, I've installed the demo on my WinXP machine. I downloaded the media server components and installed them according to the readme instructions. Then I started going through the basics in the pdf. I created a folder under the Applications directory called "voice_chat". In that I stuck the components.asc file and created the main.asc file with the load("components.asc"); command. In 2004 MX I dragged out the SimpleConnect, AudioConference, and RoomList. I linked the last to SimpleConnect, and under Application Directory I have "rtmp:/voice_chat/main.asc". Testing this and connecting, does nothing. No users appear in either list. Does Media Server 2 only work with Flash8? That was my first instinct, but my intentions are to integrate this with Director. I would greatly appreciation any information or noticeable issue
