For some reason even with all auto update stuff off PS updated from 24-24.6 the other day.  I gave it a shot........still will not let go.  Adobe pull you head out.  This is unusable for editors of all types.  Yes the new features are cool.  But unusable if you actually edit photos.  On top of that while running batch automations 24.6 crashes often.  I will batch process a few hundred images doing pretty heavy actions.  It sucks when I wake up and PS crashed half way into batch and now I need to start somewhere in the middle.  It is a huge waste of time and resources for me.  Please Adobe think of pro users in your next update.  Fix this dragging bug and make this program rock solid for stability.  You can lay off the Ai stuff for a min. ... This stuff makes me crazy.  So many pros use a wacom with PS.  Why do they break functions we have learned over yrs.  You have to natrually be able to pan and zoom to edit photos.  Adobe get with Wacom and come up with a driver that works correctly.  No special code inserted, no secret settings, either use Windows ink or do not.  Please focus on pros and stop worrying about special AI filters for momtographers. I am having exact same issue.  It started after I tried a different workflow of Interpereting footage before starting work on timeline.  If I do this, speed changes sort of freeze to a frame during playback in the timeline.  This is obvioiusly a new bug.  If I do not interperet footage I have no issues.  I can ramp up or down with zero issues.  It seems it is always something.  I have an AMD 1950x Threadripper system.  I wish Adobe would test this stuff before releasing new updates.  Someday maybe there will be a class action lawsuit against major software companies such as Adobe and Windows for updates costing unknown amounts of money and time to their customers due to updates that basically shut you down.  Last year I lost a huge client due to updates crushing my system and not being able to deliver on time.   ... Have you turned off font syncing? My issue is 100% gone with Adobe Font Syncing off in new projects.  Old projects with old synced fonts give a lot of warnings and will give worse performance but no crashing. New projects smooth as I have ever seen. 4k 10bit and no proxies. Gives no issue and smooth playback. What I seem to be observing is font sync is extremely active for whatever reason puts a huge strain on system especially if you scrub timeline quickly. ... View more

Wes for me it was probably 6 fonts. But I had no problem with syncing. My problem was font sync being enabled in the Adobe cc app. Even in a new project with no titles or text at all. As soon as I disabled this in the cc app my problem is 100% gone. Today I was playing full res 10bit 4k GH5 video with 2 layers of lumetri on my timeline like watching TV.  I have never had this performance out of PP.  I strongly believe there is a conflict with Adobe Fonts. ... You have to go into the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app. In the upper right corner there is the 3 dots.  Click that and it will give option for preferences. Then select Creative Cloud then Fonts.  Uncheck the box for enable adobe fonts.  For good measure I also went into PP>edit>preferences>sync settings and disabled everything. Since doing this I have not had one memory spike on any new project and no problems besides missing fonts on old projects.  I have just been replacing fonts with ones I am downloading the old way from websites and installing in my fonts folder.  I have have had zero issues even with GH5 10bit 4k.  All plays back smooth and no memory spikes at all.  I am about 85% confident this was my issue. Another observation is I have used legacy titler up until I switched to 2019.  Since then I have been using the text option in the tool menu and the essential graphics panel. Ok so here is my update.  And I think I could be on to something now. The other day I was having a ton of problems with a really simple timeline on a large project.  Large meaning many sequences living within this project with a lot of different layers and text.  This was a brand new 1080 sequence using 1080 120p footage from sony A9.  Nothing magical or special here.  But Ram spiking like crazy and very laggy behavior.  So I called Adobe tech support.  Guy remoted into computer.  Turned off half my cores on my Threadripper. From 16 down to 8.  No surprise, computer crashed at some point while I was working. So I figured I needed to turn back on other cores.  They were not showing so I unchecked the box we checked to adjust this setting.  After that my computer would not boot.  Awesome!!!! I actually ended up having to re install windows 10 the other night.  Up till 4 am getting computer up again with programs needed to work. So here was the big discovery.  I opened this project again to finish project.  And so many warnings popping up about fonts missing.  Soooooo many.  Fonts I thought were included in Windows.  But Adobe Type kit or whatever it is called now was not syncing.  So I got on my CC app and checked it. Tried to get to work and no luck.  So I turned it off.  All off it.  No syncing.  I also found a spot about syncing settings like workspaces to other computers.  I turned that off too.  I downloaded the fonts I needed from DaFont into my windows fonts folder old school method and computer is hauling ass now.  No lag at all.  In fact I am editing in a new project with Panasonic GH5 10bit 4k footage set up as vertical video for IG TV with no lag at all at 1/2 resolution.  So is the Adobe Fonts thing an issue?  I started using about at some point last year.  And am not sure if I have really used after they changed the name from Typekit. I am guessing this is conflict.  Even when no fonts are present in your project they are present in PP.  Always syncing in the background.  Maybe it is Typekit fonts not working well with the new system?  Either way, I am turning it off.  It is causing too many issues and it is just easier to get fonts or buy fonts I need.  I keep having issues with the CC font stuff between PP, PS, and LR.  It is however cool they show up on Adobe Spark on my phone.  The tradeoff is not worth it.  I am keeping fingers crossed this was solution. ... So I had an interesting call with Adobe Tech support on this issue this afternoon.  The guy turned off half of my logical processors in windows.  So with threadripper that is 32.  He manually put to 16.  This forced processor to use 8 cores.  PP ran pretty good until it didn't.  Tried to import a song and it just froze.  No memory spike just locked up.  So I manually forced PP to close from task bar.  I went back to MSCONFIG and tried to turn back on my cores.  No dice.  They did not show.  So with my best guess I unchecked the box by this option thinking windows would figure it out.  I rebooted and got blue screen after blue screen..  My best guess was no processors activated now.  THIS IS SWEET!!! I had to re install windows.  Now I am going through and trying to get my computer up and running again.  This is going to be a nightmare.  I unplugged all my drives before I did this, hopefully data is ok.  I love that they had me do this without telling me how to unwind it.  Anyway another day lost to this issue.  From what tech guy said is PP will only use up to 11 cores.  This is an odd number? Are there even any 11 core processors?  But as far as I could tell it would always fairly evenly put the 16 to work.  Maybe something to this?  But guessing not.  Maybe fresh win10 install will help? ... I can make a dropbox copy of one of the problem child projects.  Still no idea why overclock would impact. Here is update for me.  I need to work in an old project from last year.  So it was 2018PP.  I created a new project in 19PP then imported my old project with all of its files.  This is all simple non multicam stuff that I worked with last year no problem on this same system.  I opened one of my old timelines and guess what.  Horrific playback and memory off the charts.  This is totally nuts.  This is a bug for sure and this is getting old.  I have to make money.  And this is killing me.  No kidding I have spent days and nights and so much stress on this.  I am going to just try working in 18 and see what happens.  If this doesn't work I am going to lock myself to my desk and learn Resolve.  I can't keep wasting my life on this stuff. I did use the essential graphics panel to Export as Motion Grsphics Template and save in Library on my massive 36 sequence project on Sunday and Monday. This seems like an entirely different issue. Are your photos JPG? It could be pixel outputting a raw file or a funny jpg codec that Premiere does like. Try shooting in portrait jpg with a dslr and import that. Or just create one in LR.  Another thing could be your graphics card settings. Most likely you will not be able to use GPU with your system effectively.  Make sure to try software only in your project settings. And you will quickly find laptops are not your friend for video. I have one of Dells workstation laptops that I can rough cut and edit, but as soon as I really start adding effects, even lumetri it crawls. And render? Forget it. It takes an eternity. Not that you can not, it is just not really best option. This is also not a new thing. I know a few people that swore by their macbook pros, until they built a real desktop.
