InDesign 21.4 Bug: Unable to Move Multiple Selected Objects When Dragging Over Placed Images

In the latest update of InDesign when I have multiple shapes and frames on the page selected, if my cursor is above something like a rectangle with content/picture inside it, I only move the picture that is below it at the time.

Rather than the whole selection of objects as it used to. I tested before and after the update and it was something that only broke with 21.4. If I cursor over a solid shape object while still selecting the entire group (including the photo frame) that then moves the entire section but only if cursor above a placed fill object does it break.

What could possibly be happening?

Hi, we released InDesign version 21.4.1 today that includes a fix for this issues. Please check out: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/desktop/whats-new/release-notes.html

Please update InDesign and let us know how it goes.

If you do not see the update in the Creative Cloud Desktop App, check out: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/apps/manage-apps/creative-cloud-apps/update-creative-cloud-apps-manually.html

Having the same issue, specifically with selection groupings. Will break with image frames being the only thing that moves, but clicking a text frame moves the entire selection group.

Adding my vote to fix this ASAP. Anyone who’s been an inDesign user for any length of time will be going nuts right now. Total disruption of work flow each time this happens. Fix the freakin’ bug!

going back 21.3 fixes this issue. I wish adobe would focus on making the app work properly instead of useless feature.

I’m having this same issue of moving a whole selection of objects. Something else I’ve noticed is I’m unable to remove items from a selection by clicking them again. This is something I use all of the time. Please fix!

The best option is to download the previous version and wait for Adobe to fix this, hopefully very quickly!

knowing them, they won’t. They’ll just introduce more generative AI slop options that no one asked for.

I'm having the exact same problem. Please fix this as soon as possible, because it's slowing me down.
There's also the issue that if you have two objects (one of which is a picture frame) on different layers and try to duplicate them by holding down the ALT key, they automatically appear on a single layer instead of remaining on separate layers.

    Thanks for the help :)

I’m also having this issue. I used to be able to select multiple un-grouped objects and move them all at once. Now, when I go to move them, it only moves one object. This is a huge time-waster and needs fixed ASAP.
