The triggers lol. Adobe still haven't fixed this, what an ongoing major issue. So you can't use the latest update with the latest OS and the latest graphics cards. Hahaha, Adobe, check your mirrors, that's Da vinci resolve right there waiting for you to spin out.

What are the alternatives to Adobe's premiere?

DO IT! Switch to Resolve. I tried putting together a 4K project with effects, colour correct nodes and fx and the smart cache made my playback smooth at full resolution on my threadripper 1950x with 1080ti. I'm going to buy the studio version this month. Forget Premiere its archaic

Wow. I haven't used Premiere in some time. I sat down today to edit some AVCHD .mts video from a Panasonic camera. I thought about upgrading from CC2017 to CC2018 and discovered - and correct me if I'm wrong on this:Without warning Adobe decided to remove it's Dolby codec from any future upgrades? Seriously?So anyone working with certain .mts files had to scramble to find a fix?And that fix entails either upgrading yer OS or dialing back to CC2017?It just boggles my mind. I wonder how many human hours were wasted across the globe on this.Is it possible on MacOS if you haven't upgraded to High Sierra to copy and paste the older framework into the new CC2018?

Just one last note that you can take back to the robot, or brain in a jar, or whatever it is that runs adobe: The biggest issue here is that there are a myriad of simple and profitable solutions to these problems adobe keeps creating for its users, but no one in the company is willing to do anything about it.  Everyone here is MORE than willing to pay for the features they need and have grown reliant on. To see your company be completely blind and silent about this is really the most staggeringly alarming element in the whole equation. These are not impossible problems, yet the company that was built on offering solutions hasn't a single one for us.

I think the important thing that adobe needs to understand is that it is not just about marketing and resource allocation, and it is not just about Story. The true issue here is that adobe seems to be walking away from it's loyal user base to pursue the same kind of "new features" arms race that runs rampant in the camera manufacturing industry. Of course you are expected to stay on top of trends, keeping your products working with the current technology. Everyone is impressed and appreciative of that. Everyone here has been paying upwards of $59 EVERY month to use your products. To have major features consistently culled inspires no confidence in the company. This is speedgrade all over again.Adobe has been the go to for major studios, and small studios alike. A lot of people here are small business owners. My solution, switch back to AVID!! Can't believe that Adobe would do this.  I had issues with files created on P2017 not playing on P2018 so I downgraded and work in 2017, now this!!! TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE

Man goes into shop looking to buy a car - sees one he likes the look of. It has everything he wants and for some time runs very well - it tends to be a bit over-complicated but he can live with that as when he needs some instruction he goes off to the trusty internet to find some helpful advice. Unfortunately one day it simply stops working, whenever he turns it on and puts it into first, (or engages drive), the engine turns itself off. He tries to go back to the dealer but they ignore him, they don't answer their door, nor their phone so he has to resort to his trusty internet again. Then he finds out that the beautiful and very expensive car that he bought seemingly is not always suited to driving on the freeway/motorway. Some people suggest that it should only be used to drive in the city, others that it should only be used to drive at night. One or two suggest that it is his fault for not buying a brand new garage to put his car in - although he did buy a brand hew high spec garage

Why should I continue using Premiere when Resolve seems to be much better?

If Adobe listened to their customers this would have never happened. They care about maximising cash for their greedy selves and thats it. Lets face it - Animated Titles is only just starting to be eeeked in and only works properly if you want to use it with After Effects which means you need TWO PRODUCTS. Still no templates to get you going and make some easy to use quick whooshy animations.  Final Cut has so many templates - Premiere has ZERO>>. REPEAT ZERO!!!!  They will only innovate and give people what they want when profits are going down and they get scared. Pirate their software and show them.

these people are out of their minds. i had a feeling we would start facing things like this once they moved over to a cloud based situation. in the old days when u bought the software totally and they made an idiot update that removed something people  needed, people responded by NOT BUYING the next version.Now they sneak  updates in that remove functionality and a person like me with a 7000 machine from a few years back that works better than a new off the rack one i have except that NONE of my hundreds of HD files can be imported with audio is out of luck.I dont know if there is even any legal recourse. but if i dont figure out a way to make this work im surely going to find out. there ARE no other options to premiere that are worth a damn. damn it.

MOVE TO DAVINCI RESOLVE 15Its MUCH more powerful than Premiere now and it has a ton more features. Its time to let Adobe go. They dont want to optimize their software because they are too busy to optimize their software for modern CPUS. Heck, they barely have GPU optimization. Davinci Resolve has it all!

Thanks for the software ideas, but it is still a great shame that Adobe cannot see the worth in their own products! The question I am asking myself is; is Adobe really serious about competing in the pro film production sector anymore, or now trying to position against the likes of Corel for consumer market? Some of their decisions lately suggest the latter...

Late to the game but just as disappointed. This was such a useful program and finding an alternative has been extremely frustrating. More than anything, I find it so ridiculous to have the program be completely useless after January 2019. What in the hell are you thinking, Adobe? Way to make our jobs harder by wasting time looking for software that fits our needs. Makes me wonder if it's even worth it to keep anything but Lightroom and Photoshop, honestly. I'm still upset Adobe got rid of Speedgrade and tried to act like Lumetri was even remotely comparable. Moved to Da Vinci for that. Now I'm moving to somewhere else for screenwriting. Maybe it's time to learn the Da Vinci editor or head back to Final Cut Pro.
