I'm not a techie person so forgive me if I use the wrong language. My adobe acrobat pro dc and reader are not working properly and I have no idea why. I'm receiving  tons of Program Compatibility Assistant messages asking if Did this  program work correctly? Acrobat licensing service, adobe systems inc. I can choose yes, this program worked correctly or no, launch the troubleshooter. In file explorer, when I double click to open a pdf, they are not opening and I get these compatability messages. I've been getting messages that say Adobe Acrobat Protected Mode - adobe acrobat cannot open in protected mode due to an incompatability with your system config. would you like to open adobe acrobat with protected mode disabled? What is this?  I haven't changed anything on my desktop running windows 11. in addition to adobe not behaving properly,  MS outlook is not working correctly. what am I suppose to do to fix this?

Hi @brendas82915186

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear that

Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. If the file is stored on a shared network/drive please download it to your computer locally and then try again.

What is the version of the Acrobat Reader you are using? To check the version go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure you have the recent version 23.08.2042X installed. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also try to repair the installation from the help menu (Win Only) and see if that works.

Please try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792082

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights in Win or enable the root account in MAC and try using the application there and check.

If it still doesn't work, please remove the application using the Acrobat cleaner tool https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html , reboot the computer and reinstall the application using the direct link https://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ and see if that works.
