I am trying to install version 9.0 and am having a problem. The software wants to de-install version 8 and 8.1.0 but gets the following message: Internal Error 2753. UPDATER.API_NON_OPT.

I deleted (using proprietary un-install software) the folders and files from windows explorer (XP Professional SP3 system) but there must still be registry entrees I didn't get. Anyone know what registry files I must go in and get?

Please don't just poke around in the registry. You can make things
MUCH much worse with third party uninstallers and registry cleaners,
you can get into a situation from which there is no recovery at all.

The ONLY tool available, and the only tool needed, when Windows
Installer failures won't let you uninstall, is Microsoft Windows
    Installer Cleanup...

For those having problems to download the update, try this link http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.0/enu/AdbeRdr90_en_US.exe

I recommend to uninstall earlier versions of the reader first, including all installed language packs.

I tried installing Version 9.0. After downloading the file and starting the .exe I get the following message:

To run this program one of the following operating systems with given minimal service pack is required Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (or later)

I run XB SP2 and cannot understand this message. Could anyone help? Thanx

I am having the same problem installing Adobe Reader 9.0
I currently have version 8.1.2 installed which works perfectly. Last night and again this morning I tried to install the new reader, Version 9.0
The download worked fine (about 33.4 was downloaded as I watched, but when it reached 100% as I watched it, the download screen suddenly disappeared, so I waited patiently, expecting the installation phase to begin. It never did. If I try and download the new version again, the same thing happens over and over. In other words, the download runs fine, but it never installs the new version 9.0. Each time I redownload, it says the download already exits, then the download screen disappears, and no installation occurs. I have tried the download using Netscape 7.2, IE 7, and even Firefox 3.0, the same thing happens using any of the 3 browsers. I even tried saving the download to my desktop, then double clicking the desktop download module for Version 9.0. A screen opens that shows Adobe Reader 9.0 setup running for about 15 seconds, but when the setup reaches 100%, the setup screen disappears, and no installation takes place. I have no idea what to try now. I think I am having the same problem the original poster of this thread was trying to describe before her keyboard went crazy. Do I have to uninstall Version 8.1.2 using add/remove before installing Version 9.0? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I was assuming he was going to ask either where to download it or how to find out where it went once it was downloaded.

    You can download it here:

    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.0/enu/

if your keyboard is back again :-)

    I think your keyboard exploded.

    What was the question?
