'Encrypted Attachment Warning'

I use Serif Page Plus X9 and from this create .pdf messages to send to colleagues - during the last couple of days all ,pdf messages created in this manner carry the message 'Encrypted Attachment Warning' and my efforts to get an answer to this problem have been met with a total lack of effort or response on behalf of the Adobe Chat support team.

Has anybody else had this problem

    David, have you looked in the attachments panel to see if Page Plus is adding an attachment and then adding security to encrypt it?

    Take a good look at your options when you export the PDF in PagePlus. Apparently there are options related to security there.

    You can can also use Acrobat Reader as part of the solution, Perhaps, though it isn’t part of the problem. Open the PDF and use File > Properties. You need to see “no security“ there.

    Also consider what is putting out the message: it’s not a message most people would get. It’s your email app or system. Are you in a company? Do you have to use their email system? Maybe they changed it without telling you.

    You are using Serif Page Plus X9 to make the PDF and not Adobe Acrobat, is that correct?

    While Adobe created the PDF format, they gave it away and PDF is now owned by an ISO. Other companies can make PDFs, including Microsoft. Adobe is not involved in the process, except possibly if you use Acrobat or the free Reader to view it. There are also other viewers, such as Preview on the Mac.

    I Googled Serif Page Plus and found that it is a legacy product since Affinity Designer for Windows was released. Since Adobe was not involved, you will need to get support from the company you use to make your PDF.

    Why would Adobe chat team be involved? No Adobe product is involved, so far as I can make out. Mercedes won’t help you with problems on a BMW.

    We‘re not Adobe Support, and might have ideas. You or your receivers have a mail service that does not allow encrypted PDF, though this is perfectly normal. If you want to avoid this issue don’t make PDF files that are encrypted.  The trick is to understand that this means “security or password is set”. Don’t do that. Or, send the file another way like wetransfer.com.

    Thank you for taking the time to respond.

    I fully understand your analogy, but I would point out that Serif Page Plus X9 has not changed in a couple of years and in fact as I understand is no longer sold by Serif. I have been using the product for several years, always attaching password protected documents converted within Serif via:

    I assumed when the Serif Page Plus product was first created  some agreement had been reached with Adobe.

    More relevant - it is only since the recent  Adobe update that the 'Encrypted Attachment Warning' has started to appear on all emails where I include a password protected .pdf document created in Serif Page Plus,  this has never been the case in the past and I would greatly appreciate some help in overcoming the problem without resorting to open content, i.e. no password protection.
