I cannot create a PDF from scanner. I think it may be related to the latest MAC OS upgrade to 26.5.1 I get the first screen where I can select a scanner. I have a Brother and an HP scanner. Selecting either one gives the same result. When I click the Scan button a new window is opened but it is grayed out. It is blank except the Hide Detail, Overview and Scan (all grayed out)

Thanks for helping.  Following the link for “preferences” I could only find one file th was mentioned.  com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.plist.  I moved it to the desktop and then the blank screen I was experiencing did not display.  Instead I got a screen that once again shows the available scanners, I selected the Brother and clicked scan.  It went through the warming up routine then gave an error.  See attached.  I put com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.plist back in preferences and the ORIGINAL problem returned.

Thank you for trying all these steps and sharing the screenshot, @defaultajmxw2dyx6n8

Can you please close all the Adobe apps, open the Activity Monitor, close all Adobe-related processes, and services? Use the Acrobat cleaner tool to remove the installed app, and restart the machine. Then install Acrobat, and try the scan workflow.

If the issue still continues, capture the logs while reproducing the issue, i.e. trying the workflow and error message, and share the logs with us.

    Regards,

    Anand Sri.

I followed all the steps and once Acrobat was reinstalled I was able to scan text and black&white documents.  If I try to use the color option it scans but gives an error.  attached screenshot.  I tried changing the resolution to 100, 300 and 600 dpi with the same result.  It is the same result on the Brother 3-n-1 and the HP 3-n-1.  I do not see anywhere to make Color Format selections.  Thanks again.

    1. Acrobat Pro continuous release 2026.001.21691
    2. macOS Tahoe 26.5.1
    3. Yes scanning works on other APPS including Capture and I have 2 scanners and the issue is the same for the Brother and the HP.  Both show as ICA on the Arobat Scanner selection pulldown box.
    4. The attached window is what opens when I click on the blue Scan button.  Acrobat is not seeing something at this point.

Thank you for sharing the details @defaultajmxw2dyx6n8

Can you please restart the machine once, reset the Acrobat preferences, and reboot the machine?

For testing purposes, turn off the Acrobat security settings once from Acrobat > Preferences > Security (Enhanced) > turn off enhanced security, and protected mode at startup > Click OK. Restart the app, and then try the scan workflow.

Also, enable the root user account once with full admin rights, and test the workflow.

If the issue continues, please capture the logs from the machine and share them with us. To capture the logs, please refer to this article: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-diagnostics.html

Also, if possible, share a screen recording while reproducing the issue and capturing the logs. Share the scanner firmware and driver version installed. These will help us in the investigation and identify the root cause.

    Regards,

    Anand Sri.

    Hello there!

I hope you are doing well, and we're sorry for the trouble you had.

Could you please share more details about the issue?

    1. Which Adobe app and version are you using (e.g., Acrobat Pro/Standard, and the exact version from Acrobat > About Acrobat)?

    2. Can you confirm your exact macOS version (e.g., macOS Sonoma 14.x / Sequoia 15.x)?

    3. Does scanning work outside Acrobat (e.g., using Image Capture or the scanner’s native app), or is it failing only within Acrobat?

For testing purposes, try the scan workflow with a different app, and check. Also, ensure that all the drivers and firmware related to the scanner are updated with the latest available version. If the scanner is not working with a different app, then you might have to contact the scanner support.

On macOS, Acrobat uses ICA drivers, which can be selected from the scanner selection screen. If the scanner’s ICA driver is missing, outdated, or not compatible with the current macOS version, Acrobat may not be able to communicate with the scanner correctly. Check this article for more details: https://adobe.ly/4yhBtuL

Also, ensure that the Acrobat is supported on the installed OS: https://adobe.ly/4wKFO8h

Let us know how it goes, and share your findings.

    Regards,

    Anand Sri.
