PDF files hang when opening in Acrobat DC reader on Mac

Question

Hi, I've read several posts on this issue, but after trying all the steps: uninstall/reinstall, change security settings, change signature settings, updates etc etc, every PDF I try to open hangs, and I get a swirling beachball and Reader stops responding. Version 2021.001.20155

This happens on my wifes Macbook Pro 2017 (macos 10.13.6), but doesn't happen on my old Macbook Pro 2010! (macos 10.13.6)

When my wife is working on any PDF's for work, she needs my Macbook next to her for the PDF work.

I've spoken to Apple, and they have suggested coming to Adobe.

Please help someone.

Hi Vicky

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the delay in response. Please try to update the application to the recent version 21.07.20099 from the help menu > check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Also try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792082

You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights or enable the root account in MAC and try using the application there and check.
