All annotations disappeared

I use Adobe acrobat reader mobile for ios and have pdf’s of books on it that are stored locally on my iPad. Usually I open a pdf and my comments/annotations are there but instead when I clicked on the app it was stuck on the first screen with Adobe acrobat so I closed it and reopened it. I was asked to sign in again but I didn’t as I know my files are located on the ipad. I found out that I cant see any of the comments that I made on any of the pdf’s so I logged in to my adobe account again but that didn’t help either. Now I am stuck because I dont know what happened to the app and even if it crashed or lagged why would all my annotations go away.
