When you mention about reading being blocked, do you see any error messages? If yes, would you mind sharing a few pieces of information for further investigation:

1. The app version of Acrobat Reader Mobile you sue (go to Profile-> About Acrobat);

2. The OS [Android/iOS of your device and its version;

3. A screenshot of what you see when trying to open the PDF;

4. A sample PDF file to test the issue in-house.
