Broken next/previous text search on Adobe Reader Android 10

Hi,

Using Adobe Reader on Android 10 on Samsung Galaxy S10+ : moving between search occurrences is broken.
Adobe app. version shows 23.1.1.25723.

Steps :
1. click on magnifying glass
2. enter search text + enter/magnifying glass icon
3. the next page with search text is displayed, and search text is highlighted. OK.
2. select > icon (in top right corner) to move to next occurrence
3. if there is another occurrence in the same page, it is highlighted, fine. Otherwise... the next page with search text is displayed, but :
A) search text is not highlighted, and
B) previous & next occurrence icons in top right corner, < and >, disappear. You have to enter search text again and again to search across the whole document ! It did not work that way in the past. Looks like a plain good old bug.

Same problem for previous occurrence.

N.B. The PDF files I use have not been changed or altered. I used to search in these with Adobe Reader on Android, same OS, same phone, without any problem.

Regards.

Correct answer Vincent2844449856kp

Hi Souvik,

I installed com.adobe.reader_22.11.0.24919-1923124919_minAPI24(arm64-v8a,armeabi-v7a,x86,x86_64)(nodpi)_apkmirror.com.apk

and it worked fine.

I discovered your reply today, and using android "info about application" (sorry, translating from french android) #1 I deleted the cache, #2 I deleted the data, #3 uninstalled the app. #4 reinstalled the app. from Google Play, version 23.1.2.25728.

It works fine now ! I don't know if Adobe implemented a fix since 23.1.1.25723 or if something was messed up in local app. data and/or cache… Sorry for the inconvenience if local app. data/cache were the root cause of all this.

Thanks and keep going, this is a great app. (and Adobe Photo Scan too !).

Hi @Vincent2844449856kp,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for your experience with Acrobat Reader Mobile.

I followed the steps you shared for the workflow, but it worked fine. Would you mind sharing a screen recording of the scenario happening for a better understanding?

Also, a sample file to reproduce the issue would be great.

While you share so, you might try clearing the cache files for the application. Go to Settings-> Apps-> Acrobat-> Storage-> Clear Cache on the bottom right of the window.

Look forward to hearing from you.

-Souvik.
