Question

Can you automatically name a PDF file from information within the file?

I need to create several thousand PDF files of students' data, e.g. Transcripts. A computer program will create an individual pdf for each student. Is there a way for a program to read the person's name from a specific location within the PDF file and save the PDF with that individual' name as the file name. For example the PDF with Bob Smith's of transcript would be saved as: Bob Smith.pdf.  Thanks

Hi rogerso225,

I think you may have a look of indexing in Acrobat:  Acrobat Help | Searching and indexing

With the help of indexing, you can search contents in a file. You can also schedule indexing: Scheduled index updates in Acrobat DC | Adobe Content Corner

Bases on the result you can simply open the file from the location.

Let us know if that helps.
