A file saved in Acrobat Dc will not open in Reader for Android.

Is there an app that will open the latest versions  of pdf's saved in Acrobat?

Thanks.

Hi

You posted in the orphaned forum Acrobat Reader Mobile (beta) which currently has one other post asking why this forum exists. It sounds as though you are not using the Beta version. Please confirm what you are using and we can move your post if you are not using the Beta.

Files created in Acrobat DC should be able to be opened in Acrobat Reader for Android.

  • Is it just the one file? Have you tried others?
  • Can it be opened by Acrobat Reader for desktop?
  • Do you get an error message?

There is an issue with forms created with LiveCycle. They won't open in Reader for Android or iOS. You said the PDF was saved with Acrobat DC. Was it also created there?

Hello Jane,

Thank you for responding to my post.

I am using the Adobe Reader for Android that is currently offered on Google Play.

It shows on the Android phone as Version 22.71.23191.

If there is a later version that will open files saved with Adobe Acrobat DC I would like to have access to it.

Is is not just one file, it is any file that is created in a DC version of Acrobat.  The files open fine on a desktop in Windows with Adobe Reader DC.  The error message on the Android phone is "This form requires Adobe Acrobat Reader DC for Mac or Windows" even though it's on the phone.

How does one get a more current version than the one offered on Google Play?

Thanks.

That's the same message that displays when the form was created in LiveCycle and there is no getting around it. I haven't heard that it applies elsewhere, but posssibly another volunteer will chime in.

In a desktop version, can you go to File > Properties > Description (the first tab) and tell us what it says for the Application and PDF Producer?

Can the phone open PDF forms that others have created? Try Form 1040 (fillable) for instance. (Make sure you get the one from the IRS dot gov website!)

The message you are getting says it's a form. Is there anything unique about the forms you are creating?
