Question

Delay when tapping the screen and PDF changes size.

Hi,

So I've recently updated the Adobe Acrobat on my iPad and it seems to have a significant performance downgrade. As I have attached a video below to explain better. But, in short,

1. Whenever I tap the screen the PDF shrinks in its entirety to reveal the tools (the shrinking is very distracting and I often lose sight of where I was)

2. There is a slight delay of around 3-400 ms whenever the UI changes states (this becomes really annoying after awhile)

My understanding is that the previous version was much responsive and the tools UI was not as intrusive, lwaving me confused as to why was this changed.

OS version: iPadOS 17.5.1 (21F90)

App Version: 24.07.00 (20240710.141157)

Thank you!

Hi @JinuS

I hope you're doing well! I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing issues.

Since the Acrobat application has been updated to the latest version, could you please try rebooting your device and see if that helps? If the problem persists, it would be helpful to determine whether this is a file-specific issue. Could you try opening a different file and see if you encounter the same problem?

If the issue is specific to a particular file, please share that PDF with us so we can take a closer look and assist you further.

Thank you, and I appreciate your patience.

Hi, I hope you're doing well too. I have tried both of the things that you have suggested. But this issue seems to be not connected with any particular PDF. Rather, it is an app wide issue. I would also like to point out that before the current update, it only used to resize the PDF when I tapped on the screen and not when I selected the highlighted text.

I'm attaching a video below, hope its helpful, in making clear what I may not be able to convey properly in text.

PS For some reason I'm not able to attach a video.

Hi @JinuS

Sorry for the delayed response. From the screen recording, it seems that you're using the application in full-screen mode. When you tap on the PDF, the toolbars are hidden, and the document is displayed in full-screen view. To exit this view and access the toolbars, simply tap the PDF again. Be sure not to tap any interactive elements when entering or exiting full-screen mode.

Viewing Modes for Your PDF:

You can view your PDF in different modes: Continuous, Single Page, or Reading Mode.

To switch between viewing modes:

  1. From the top menu of the PDF, tap View Settings.

  2. In the View Settings menu, select one of the following modes:

    • Continuous: Scroll continuously through the pages of your PDF.
    • Single Page: View your document one page at a time. To navigate, swipe left or right, or tap the left or right edge of the screen.
    • Reading Mode: This mode provides a continuous view with enlarged text for easier reading. Note that not all PDFs are compatible with Reading Mode. For enhanced readability, we recommend using Liquid Mode.

For more detailed information, please check the view settings described on the help page.

Best regards,

Amal

Regarding the second point, it becomes annoying because I can't interact with the screen for that duration, so I have to wait for it to do its thing first.
