Documents not opening

Unable to open any document on the app. Saved or new.

    Hi @Exquisite_Moonbeam8a3e,

Thanks for the update. Since updating the app and iOS didn't change anything, that rules out the most common cause.

A couple more details would help: what happens exactly when you try to open a document? Does the screen stay blank, does the app crash or close, or does it show a loading spinner that never finishes? And are the documents stored locally on your device, in Adobe cloud storage, or another cloud service like iCloud or Dropbox?

While you check that, one thing to try is to uninstall and reinstall the app. Note that on iOS, this will remove any files stored only locally on the device, since clearing data isn't a separate option on iOS the way it is on Android, so if you have anything saved locally that isn't backed up to Adobe cloud storage or another cloud service, back it up first. Files already saved to Adobe cloud storage will still be there once you sign back in. You can check this here: Delete files in Acrobat on mobile

Also worth checking, since it affects whether documents open at all:

    • Confirm your iPhone has enough free storage under Settings > General > iPhone Storage

    • Try signing out of your Adobe account and back in, in case the account session itself is the block

Let us know what you see when you try to open a file, and whether reinstalling changes anything.

    Hi @Exquisite_Moonbeam8a3e ,

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out. We are sorry for the trouble you are experiencing.

Since there's not much detail yet, a few things would help pin down what's going on:

    • What app version of Acrobat Reader Mobile are you on (tap your profile icon > About Adobe Acrobat)?

    • What device and OS are you using, iOS or Android, and which version?

    • When you say documents aren't opening, what actually happens? Does it show an error message, stay on a blank or loading screen, or does the app crash entirely?

A couple of things worth trying in the meantime:

    • Force close the app completely and reopen it. On Android, this is Settings > Application manager > Adobe Acrobat > Force Stop, or on iOS, swipe it away from the app switcher.

    • Clear the app cache (Android) or try offloading and reinstalling the app (iOS), then test again.

    • Confirm you're on the latest version from the App Store or Google Play, since the app updates automatically by default, but it's worth double-checking.

    • Try opening a document you've never opened before (not one saved from earlier), to see if this affects every file or just previously saved ones.

If none of that changes anything, a short screen recording of what happens when you try to open a file would help a lot in figuring out exactly where it's getting stuck.

Let us know how it goes.
