Question

"Fill & Sign" text disappears as soon as leaving the text box when writing in Hebrew

Dear forum members and support,

While using the "Fill & Sign" feature, whenever writing a word in a foreign language (Hebrew in my case), the text disappears as soon as I exit the textbox.

This does not happen when using only English letters or numbers.

When trying to Undo the "invisible" added text, the app crashes.

This reproduces to me on 2 Android phones, a Oneplus X and a Moto G5.

Did anyone else encounter this? Is there a known workaround?

Thanks,

Alon

Hope you're doing well, and thank you for reaching out.

Could you please share a few more details about the issue you're experiencing? Specifically, it would be helpful to know the steps or workflow you're following.

If your issue is the same as what's being discussed earlier in this thread, rest assured that our engineering team is actively working on it, and a fix will be included in a future update.

However, if you're referring to something different, please let us know.

Hi
The problem I’m experiencing is that your application does not support
Hebrew documents signing. Which make it irrelevant for me, since I work in
Hebrew and sign files in Hebrew. Due to this, I would like to request a
refund, since you cannot provide me the service you’re app was claimed for.

Thank you

I identified the follow behaviour of text objects when they contain even a single letter in RTL language (Hebrew or Arabic):

  • Desktop (version 2023.008.20470) :
    • The text object is preseved, but in some cases, the Hebrew/Arabic letters turn to squares, as if the applied font doesn't support the character set.
    • RTL peragraph direction is no longer supported.
  • Web (version 3.22.29-93b8a4d51):
    • The text object disappears after you exit the document (text objects with Roman charset or digits are preserved).
    • RTL peragraph direction is not supported.
  • Mobile App (Acrobat version 24.01.02 (20240131.1538360) for iPhone):
    • The text object disappears after you tap out of it to exit or create a new one (text objects with Roman charset or digits are preserved).
If you click in the place where it was, it will show up for editing with the text it contained. This means tht the problem is with rendering the content of the object to the PDF.
    • RTL peragraph direction is still supported.

As I still have the the old Fill & Sign app installed, I checked and verified that the text tool functioned perfectly from Hebrew and Arabic.

Thank you, but this doesn't solve the problem. If I'm paying for Adobe premium, I want to be able to use it as intended, and see the text I'm inputting.

So what is the answer??

@Adi Ravid Thanks for sharing the observations.

@ElloKel The fix is already a work in progress. We will be live with the fix by the end of this quarter.

This issue hasn't been fixed yet.

It happens ONLY in the adobe app.

If I open the document directly in the fill and sign app it there's no problem.

But if I enter fill and sign mode from the adobe app - the text disappears.

I see that this issue has not yet had a resolution? I too am encountering the same problem when using Hebrew in Acrobat Pro, but this is new for me, I haven't had it before.

As Adobe is the gold standard of PDF software, it needs to work with any language and really should be fixed by now.

Please attend to this ASAP.

I await your response. Thanks!

Hi, uploaded the bug in a video.

You could see that I'm trying to input in hebrew. When I exit the box hebrew words dissapears, but if I press the same area of the box words reapear. However, when exit the file and back again, all hebrew edits are undone.

Dear Meenakshi,

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the late response.

Answering the questions:

- The issue reproduces with every PDF I tried to write in Hebrew on.

- The issue I encountered was using the mobile "Fill & Sign" feature, more specifically, on my Android phone. On the PC version of Acrobat Reader it actually works well.

- The app's version in question is 19.5.

- The android version in question is 6.0.1.

- I've since deleted the document unfortunatelly but as mentioned above, the issue reproduced for me with any document I tried to fill.

Thanks again for the assistance, hoping this issue is resolved soon as I really enjoy the feature on the computer and it would be great to have it on my mobile phone.

Thank you,

Alon
