Question

From recent files I clicked clear and all my files got deleted. How to recover on iPhone

I accidentally tapped “Clear” in the Recent Files section on my iPhone, and all my files disappeared. I’m not sure whether this only cleared the recent files list or actually deleted the files.

I then signed in to Adobe on the web and found some of my documents, which were probably saved in Adobe’s cloud storage. However, the rest are still missing. Where could they be, especially those that may have been stored locally on my iPhone?

Could you please explain in detail how to find and recover these missing or deleted files? Please include step-by-step instructions for checking Adobe Acrobat, the Files app, “On My iPhone,” iCloud Drive, the Recently Deleted folder, and any available backups.

I couldn’t find the files. May be I clicked permanently delete instead of remove. Is there anyway to retrieve them.

    Hi @Charismatic_Companion9761

If you haven't made a backup of the files on any cloud storage and deleted the files permanently, there isn’t much that can be done to recover the lost files.

    Hi @Charismatic_Companion9761

I hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out. I understand how unsettling it is when your files disappear after tapping Clear, so here is what that option does and where your files may be.

Tapping Clear in Recent only removes the files from the Recent list. It does not delete them from storage for more information please check the help page  Remove files from Recent list in Acrobat on mobile.

Because the files stay where they were saved, you can look for them in these places:

    • Acrobat app: open the Files tab and check each storage location listed there, for example, your Adobe cloud storage and any device storage.

    • Files app on your iPhone: tap Browse, then check On My iPhone and iCloud Drive, including the Acrobat folder if it appears.

    • Files app > Browse > Recently Deleted, in case any file was deleted rather than cleared.

    • Deleted files in Acrobat: Restore deleted files in Acrobat

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards

    Amal
