I'm new here can someone please explain how to unlock a pdf file without having the original password for it?? Thanks.

As Bernd mentioned, viewing a password-protected file without a password is impossible. This is to maintain the integrity of the document.

I suggest contacting the file's creator to either get the password or a fresh copy without the password.
