Question

Hi. I have to inquire about that why the file is saved again and again, every time we open it. As, we have already one file and after opening, it is saved again in the list. Why it happens so?

For example, if I open my file named Zahid, it is saved again with the name Zahid(1) etc. It is irritating having  same file with some changes  in the same file name. Anybody, Guide about it.

    Hi there,

Hope you are doing well, and thank you for reaching out.

Would you mind sharing some more information to understand the issue better?

    • Are you opening the file from local storage or from Adobe Cloud storage?

    • Does this happen when you edit the file, or just when you open/view it?

    • Are you using Adobe Acrobat Reader or Adobe Scan?

This behavior typically occurs when the app is unable to overwrite the original file, so it creates a new copy with a numbered name instead. Some common reasons are:

    • File is opened from a read-only location (like email attachment or shared folder)

    • File is being re-imported or re-scanned

    • Sync conflict between device storage and cloud

    • Using “Save As” instead of “Save.”

Please try the steps below and see if that works

    • Check file source: If the file is from email or WhatsApp, save it once to your device first, then open and edit that saved copy.

    • Use “Save” instead of creating a new copy

    • If using Adobe Cloud, ensure sync is complete before reopening/editing the file on another device.

    • You can delete extra copies manually and keep one master file to avoid confusion.

Let us know how it goes.
