    Hi there

Hope you are doing well and thank you for reaching out. I understand how frustrating that feels, losing annotations and edits you made to the file all of a sudden.

Below are some most common reasons this happens in Acrobat Reader:

    • File wasn’t saved properly: On mobile, annotations are sometimes stored temporarily until the file is explicitly saved. If the app crashes, closes, or you switch files quickly, those changes can be lost.
    • Not signed in / sync issues: If you weren’t signed into your Adobe account, annotations may not sync to the cloud. Reopening the file from a different location can show an older version
    • File replaced or overwritten, If the original PDF was re-downloaded, replaced in storage or opened from a different path (e.g., WhatsApp vs Files app) you may be seeing a clean version without your edits.

What you can try right now:

    1. Reopen the file from “Recent” in Acrobat (not from file manager)
    1. Check for the file in Adobe Document Cloud storage here https://acrobat.adobe.com/link/documents/files/ acheck for the file under “Your Documents” section and see if that works.

    Hope this will help.
