Issue with not being able to delete the first letter of a word in fillable form field on iPhone

Has anybody had an issue with not being able to delete the first letter of a word in a fillable form field when using an iPhone to open the pdf?

I added the form fields to some pdfs using Acrobat Pro. I can open and edit without any problems on Mac with Preview and also on the Adobe Acrobat iPhone app.

However, when opening it on iPhone using Files or Books etc, I can't delete the first letter in certain fields.

As it doesn't happen with every field, is there a chance that an error occured when creating the form field on Acrobat Pro? Is there anything that I can do to fix it?

I need to fix this as I will be sending the files to others who would also have this same issue if they open it and try to fill in the fields on their iPhones/iPads. I'm having the issue with all of the pdfs that I have created.

Thanks!!

Same here.  Just realize I am not alone.  Did you figure out what to do?  Thanks!

Hello @weihongi83697645

I hope you're doing great, and sorry for the issue you're experiencing.

Could you please help us with some details to understand the issue better?

1. Application version

2. Os version of your device

3. Is the issue file specific? If yes, please share a sample PDF file so we can reproduce it on our end.

4. A screen recording of the workflow you're doing.

Hoping to hear from you soon.

Thank you,

Krutikka

Hi AAujla,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry for the delay in response.

As mentioned above, you are not able to delete the first alphabet of a word in the form fields. The issue occurs only when you open it using the Files or Books etc. If it is accessed directly by Adobe Acrobat mobile application, it works fine.

Would you mind sharing any sample PDF with us and the screen-recording of the steps you do to open PDF from files to delete the text?

Share the application and OS version on your iPhone.

Let us know if the issue is already resolved.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Hi Meenaskhi,

Thanks for getting back to me. I have attached 3 different screen recordings, all using Books to open and edit the files.

As you can see with some versions of the file, it will let me delete some of the multi line fields, but in other versions it will not let me delete any of of the multi line fields. In one recording, you can see that it is all single line fields, and they all seem to work fine.

So I think the issue is happening with some multi line fields. But I'm not sure why it is happening to just some of them and not all of the time?
Is there an error occurring somewhere when I'm creating the fields?

Thanks!

I just checked some of my other files, and it does happen with the occasional single line field too.

So I have no idea why this is happening.
