Why is it not possible to make pdf-documents offline available in Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 25.03.05 on iPad Pro?

    Hi there,

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

You actually can make PDFs available offline in Acrobat Reader on iPad, it's done through the Star (favorite) feature, but the behavior depends on a preference setting that defaults to cloud-only, which is likely why it seems unavailable.

Here's how to set it up:

    1. In Acrobat Reader, tap your profile icon (top-left or top-right depending on view) > Preferences.
    2. Find Starred File Location and tap it.
    3. Change it from Adobe cloud storage to either:
      • This device only:  stars the file locally on your iPad so it's accessible offline, or
      • Ask every time:  lets you decide per file whether to keep it in the cloud or on the device.
    4. Now, open any PDF and tap the star icon. With the setting above, the file will be stored locally on your iPad and available without an internet connection.

    A few additional notes:

    • If a PDF lives only in Adobe cloud storage (Document Cloud), it isn't downloaded for offline use by default, only cached temporarily, and that cache can be cleared when the app updates. Starring it with the "This device only" setting is what makes it persistent.
    • Alternatively, you can save a PDF to the iPad's local Files app: open the PDF > Share > Save to Files > choose On My iPad. You can then open it from Acrobat Reader's Files tab even with no connection.
    • Make sure your iPad's iOS-level setting for Acrobat Reader doesn't restrict background data, and that you have enough local storage.

Let us know how it goes.
