Question

Managing storage with Acrobat Reader iOS app + Dropbox integration

I use Acrobat on an iPad to mark up pdf's that I store on Dropbox. In the iOS app, the Dropbox integration works nicely and it is easy to open and edit any files. However, the Acrobat app is taking up a lot of storage because it seems to download and keep a copy of any Dropbox file that I open.

I have two questions:

  • Is my understanding of how storage works on the iOS app + Dropbox correct?
  • Is there any way to stop the app from keeping downloads of files, and use less storage?

Hi @ml45,

Hope you are doing well. Thank you for writing in.

Yes, the description about how Acrobat Reader works with the DropBox integration is correct.

DropBox and other third-party cloud drives do not allow files to be overwritten directly on the cloud. So, Reader has to create a copy of the file in the internal storage, make the changes, and re-upload it to the cloud.

Hope this clarifies your questions.
