A couple of quick questions to help narrow this down:

• Are you opening this on Android or iOS, and what version of Acrobat Reader do you have installed?

• Did the sender share it as a direct file attachment in WhatsApp, or did they use Acrobat's "send a copy" / shareable link feature?

• Does this happen with other PDFs too, or just this one file?

That "still preparing this shared copy" message usually shows up when a PDF was shared through Acrobat's cloud link feature and the file hasn't finished processing, rather than an issue with your device. A few things that usually help:

1. Update Acrobat Reader Mobile to the latest version. Try updating the app to the latest version available on the App/Play Store and reboot the device once, and check.

2. Ask the sender to try a different sharing method, for example, having them export/save the PDF locally and send it as a plain file attachment in WhatsApp instead of a shared link. You can find more on the sharing options here: Share and review PDFs in Acrobat.

3. Ask the sender to resend a fresh copy if the original upload got stuck; a new share often clears it.

If none of that helps after 24+ hours, it may be worth having the sender try again with a smaller test PDF to see if it's file-specific.
