Question

Option to ‘open in acrobat’ disappeared from top of files app

Just recently the option in in the files app on my iPad to 'open in acrobat' has disappeared, replaced by 'open in chrome'. Files don't open in chrome without internet access, and acrobat is the best way of highlighting text.

Any help greatly appreciated!!

hi Justin25376703wdir,

Thank you for reporting this issue to us and I’m sorry for any inconvenience.
I use Acrobat version 22.07.00 on iPad Pro iOS 15.0, however, I'm not able to see the issue. (see attached screen recording) Could you please let me know what is the version of iOS and Acrobat on your device? It will be helpful if you could share the screen recording to exhabit what you are encountering.

Thank you for your patience,

Hello Justin,

I hope you are doing well. I am sorry for your experience with Acrobat Reader Mobile.

Have you checked with clicking the option saying Edit Actions, it may be the case that Acrobat Reader Mobile has been disabled due to which you don't see it in the list.

Enabling it from there may help you with resolving the issue.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks,

Souvik.

Hello

Thanks for your reply.

I can manage to import to acrobat, but unfortunately something has changed automatically and im stuck with the 'open in chrome' option at the top, which is totally useless to me.

I tried deleting and reinstalling both Files and Abobe Acrobat apps, and this didn't rectify either.

Going through multiple menu options does eventually allow me to open pdfs in acrobat, but it is not a smooth of a process as it used be. Is there any option to select a default app to open pdfs?

Regards

@Justin25376703wdir Hi,

So basically, the option you get now is "import to acrobat" rather than the earlier option that said "open in acrobat". Both have the same functionality, however, bringing that option to the front and hiding the google option has to be done manually by you by clicking on the Edit Actions icon the next time you try to open a file using acrobat Reader Mobile.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Souvik.
