Question

PDF Cannot be Opened from Acrobat Reader

Hi,

I'm using some PDFs for the electronic contract usage with customers,

and there's an issue that PDF files cannot be opened for some users.

I shared some PDFs through google drive with other users and they will create a copy of the shared file and open it.

During this process, acrobat asks like 'Adobe Acrobat will create a local copy of this document'.

When the user selects 'YES', the created copy version should be opened.

However, for some users, there's an error message like 'This file could not be accessed. Check your connection or make the filename shorter'.

I don't think the issue is for the file itself because it happens only for some users.

The device is Samsung Galaxy Tab A with Android version 8.1.0.

Please enlighten me:)

Hi Ukily

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described some users get error message 'This file could not be accessed. Check your connection or make the filename shorter'

How are these users opening the PDF file and what is the OS platform they are using?

What happens if they shorten the PDF file name?

If they are trying to open the PDF on Windows OS and getting the error message, please check the similar discussion on Microsoft help page - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/fileio/maximum-file-path-limitation?tabs=cmd

Let us know if you are referring to something else.

Regards

Hi Amal,

Thanks for your reply.

That issue is happening from a tablet which is using Android OS, not Window based.

And also, it happens for just some of users, and for them it's not happening all the time.

I'm using google drive to share with users, and when user have the mentioned issue, I just delete the PDF file and share exactly the same one, then it's okay.

For that reason, I don't think this is about the file name.

But I appreciate to your answer, and I hope my problem is gonna be solved somehow very soon.

Thanks.
