PDF File thumbnails disappearing

Hello! For the last few versions or so, I’ve noticed that in Acrobat Reader for iPad, the PDF thumbnails occasionally disappear. Even if I close the app completely and then reopen it, the thumbnails don’t reappear (the classic red and black Adobe icon remains next to the file name). The only way to get the thumbnail back seems to be to delete the file and replace it with a previously saved copy. This problem started occurring when the small window showing some of the ‘Recent’ files was introduced in the ‘Files’ section, in the top-left corner of that section (previously, ‘Recent’ files were only available via the ‘Home’ section). I’m using a ninth-generation iPad and have installed the latest version of Acrobat Reader. I realise this isn’t a major problem, as the content of the PDFs remains unchanged, but it would be great if a solution could be found to prevent the thumbnails from disappearing. Thank you.

@Yann84700  I have checked your Adobe accoint linked with the Adobe ID you are using on this community and found that your Acrobat Premium subscription was cancelled recently  with refund. The refund will take 10-14 business days to reflect into your account depending on your banks policy.

    Hi @luca_7832

Thank you for reaching out and for the detailed observation, particularly the connection you noticed between the thumbnail issue and the introduction of the Recent files panel in the Files section. That kind of context is genuinely helpful.

We understand this is not affecting the content of your PDFs, and we appreciate you flagging it regardless as it helps us improve the experience for all users.

To help us investigate further, could you please share the following:

A short screen recording showing the thumbnails disappearing and the Adobe icon appearing in their place, your current iOS version under Settings > General > About > iOS Version, and your current Acrobat Reader version by tapping your Profile icon > About Acrobat Reader.

Please share what you can and we will take it from there.

    Thank you for your reply.
I am using a ninth-generation iPad running iPadOS 26.5 and Acrobat Reader v. 26.05.01. Unfortunately, I cannot attach a screen recording as requested, because there are currently no missing thumbnails: I replaced all the affected files when the problem last occurred and I do not know when it will happen again (it does not happen very often). However, I will try to be clearer in my description, in the hope that this may help. If, once I’ve opened Acrobat Reader, I don’t see any missing thumbnails, it’s impossible for any to disappear whilst I’m using it; however, if I close the app completely and reopen it later, it is possible that one or more files will appear not with their own thumbnail, but with Adobe’s generic one (for me, using the dark theme: black with red outlines and the red ‘A’ for Adobe in the centre). When this happens, I delete the file completely and re-import it using a copy saved to a Mega account (I export the file on Acrobat, where the thumbnail reappears). There doesn’t seem to be any other way to restore the missing thumbnail without completely replacing the file in question. I’m sorry I’m unable to provide more detailed guidance, and thank you for your support.
