PDFs not displaying text anymore

Hi,

I have a lot of electronics schematics saved on my iPad. Recently the text on them has not been displaying, and I can only see the part outlines and connections. The PDFs aren't corrupted, as I can send them to another PDF viewer and they display correctly. I downloaded the same file and tried to have Acrobat Reader open it, but it still wasn't displayed correctly. This same file displays ok on the other PDF app.
The stored files opened and displayed correctly a few weeks ago, but recently quite a few files I open have the above problem.

I don't want to delete the app and re-install it, as it would mean losing all the schematics, and saving hundreds of files elsewhere, which will take a very long time. The iPad isn't out of memory.

What to do?
