Hope you are doing well. Sorry for your experience with Acrobat Reader Mobile.

 

Would you mind sharing a screenshot of the error for a better understanding and assistance? Also, are the files you're trying to open saved on a cloud drive? Fluctuations in the Internet bandwidth could be a possible reason for the error. 

You might want to try opening a file from your internal storage. Let us know if it helps.

 

If not, please share a screen recording video of the event for a better understanding.
