Did anyone else do a 7 day trial and got charged for monthly subscription to do so?

You posted to the orphaned Acrobat Reader for Mobile (beta) forum and it sounds like you are not using the beta version. Please confirm and we will move your post. The only posts that come here are spam and misdirected posts that we move.

 

Since you subscribed through Google Play and not through Adobe, you need to contact Google Play for billing issues.
