Unable to Print pdf file in Read-Only

Up until the recent update for iPad, I was able to print parts of documents even though they were designated as Read-Only. However, now I am unable to print anything from these documents. Originally the documents were created to be printable but not changeable, and somehow this designation has changed in the update. What can I do to be able to print them again, as they include exams I must print for my children?

I have this issue too, with everything I purchase for use in my classroom from teacherspayteachers.com  It all says password protected and I can't print but I have purchased it

Hi All,

Hope you are doing well.

We don't have that feature for mobile applications at present. We cannot print password-protected pdf in Android/iOS devices.  Thank you for highlighting this to us. It's in a future enhancement pipeline. You will get an official announcement as well as a notification when this will roll out.

You can use the following link to share your feedback/raise a new feature request to the product team directly: https://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html

Thank you for your time and cooperation.

Hi Ria,

Thank you for looking into this, but honestly it is rather unacceptable. This "feature" existed before the update, which means that the mobile application had this function before the update.  My files in question are not password protected, they've been re-categorized as "read only". This only  happened after  the update because I was able to print from them before.

Just to be clear, so there is no confusion about the issue: Before Update -- able to print; After Update -- unable to print. With all due respect, it seems rather unreasonable to now ask people to "raise a new feature request" for something that had already existed! It would be very kind, Ria, if you could convey this "wish" on behalf of myself and the other people who are now unable to print files that were previously printable, and whose children's education are suffering because assignments cannot be printed in a timely fashion. (Although, in all honesty, the children are probably happy with assignment delays!😉)

Please do find a way to elevate this issue up the chain to ensure that previous functionality can be restored as soon as possible.

Kind regards.

We are sorry, you're having difficulties. Please help me with few details to understand your issue better.

  1. Make and model of your device?
  2. Application version?
  3. Are you getting any error messages while printing? If yes please share it with us.

Make sure your application is updated. Do save your work then try to sign out and sign in back. Reboot your device.

1. Apple iPad, 6th gen; ios 14.5.1
2. Adobe Acrobat Reader -- version 21.05.00 (most recent update)
3. The error message comes up in a red bar at the bottom of the screen when I try to print pages from the file and reads: "Printing protected files is currently unsupported."

As I stated previously, this only started to happen AFTER the update.
