Question

why does the app keep deleting open files without asking for premission

Over the last few weeks I have been reading some papers and noticed that when I leave them open when my android tablet is in sleep mode (turned off but not shut down). Adobe completely deletes the file. It isn’t in the bin folder or anywhere else on the device. This is especially frustrating since I was annotating the pages and those notes are lost now.

    Hi @Whimsical_Charm9ec2

I hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out. Losing a file along with your annotations is upsetting, and we’d like to understand what is happening so we can help.

Acrobat does not delete files on its own, so a few details would help us narrow this down. Could you please share:

    • Whether the file was opened from your tablet’s local storage, or from Adobe cloud storage (Acrobat’s Files tab)

    • Your Android version and the Acrobat app version

    • Whether the tablet is set to clear recent files, or has a storage cleaner or battery optimizer app running while it sleeps

If the file was saved in Adobe cloud storage, it may still be recoverable for a limited time. Sign in to Adobe Home here https://adobe.ly/4ilJNn6 and go Files > Deleted, and check whether it is listed. If it is, select More options > Restore.

Deleted cloud files are permanently removed after 30 days, and this restore option is not available inside the Acrobat mobile app. For more information, please check the help page: Restore deleted files.

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards,
    Amal
