Adobe Substance Painter 3D STEAM Version Crashes on Startup and Won't Launch

Hello,

I am having an issue where Adobe Substance 3D Painter (Steam version) crashes during startup.

The problem:

  • Painter launches and shows the splash screen.
  • After a few seconds, it crashes before reaching the main interface.

Crash information from Visual Studio debugger:

Unhandled exception at 0x00007FF644A0DE1C (Adobe Substance 3D Painter.exe):0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x0000000000000040

Call stack:

What I have tried:

  • Verified Steam game files
  • Redownloaded C++ Redistributables
  • Updated NVIDIA game and studio drivers
  • Checked that there are no Steam launch options
  • Debugged the crash in Visual Studio

My system:

  • Laptop: ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 (2020)
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti Laptop GPU (4 GB VRAM)
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 4600HS
  • RAM: 24 GB
  • OS: Windows 11 64-bit

I noticed that the current Steam system requirements list RTX 2060 Super / RX 5700 XT as minimum GPUs, while my GTX 1650 Ti is below that. However, I am unsure if the crash is caused by unsupported hardware, a driver issue, or corrupted installation data.

I previously had older Substance Painter installations (including older licensed/student versions), so I am wondering if some leftover configuration/cache files could be causing a startup conflict.

Any help identifying the cause would be appreciated. I can provide logs, crash dumps, or additional debugging information if needed.

Thank you!
