If you have Acrobat set the field as multiline (under Properties - Options). If you have Reader there's nothing you can do about it.

I found a "Properties" under File, but no Options. Thanks for trying.

"Properties" in context of a form field that ways pasted.

As to running text - remember that PDF *is not* a word processor / page layout / spreadsheet / image file format. While Acrobat provides robust support for touchups any word processor like behavior can only be had in the word processing application.
