Question

Adobe PDF Services API availability on Amazon AWS

Hi,

I have just received an email from Amazon AWS that Adobe PDF Services API will no longer be available on the AWS Martkeplace to new subscribers and will no longer be supported after August 9, 2023.

Will Adobe PDF Services API still be supported by Adobe? If so where will be be able to access it?

Otherwise, is the API being discontinued or what is happening? Can please clarify.

Regards,

Paul

I've got some information from the sales. Here is what I know as of today :

    • A free tier will be implemented on June 28th, 2023, that will grant you up to 500 transactions per month free of charge
    • If you reach 500 transactions a month, the 501st transaction won't process
    • If you need more than 500 transactions a month, you will have to purchase services directly from Adobe, but please note that there is a minimum purchase quantity of 500,000 transactions per year ($25,000 USD/year)
    • There is no other option to purchase our API at this time, though we are working to provide a purchase option for those who cannot commit to the 500,000 transactions per year minimum
    • To switch from AWS on-demand plan to your free tier plan, on the 28th of June, you will see our free tier listen on the website. You can enroll and use those new credentials you receive.

Thanks for the update. Do we still have the option of remaining on AWS on-demand without support?

I have the same question; can we stay with AWS's pay per use $0.05 and receive the same support and services as other Adobe customers?

We don't fit the free tier and can't justify the 500,000 tier. I’ve been looking at Encodian’s Flowr Midsize Tier ($999/yr.) solution as alternative option since Adobe doesn’t offer anything in-between the free and 500,000 tier yet.

Hopefully someone with Adobe will start providing more information on this change and what it means for existing customers.

    Hey folks, a few things:

    1) The announcement of us delisting from AWS was just shared yesterday, https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-services-api-discussions/adobe-pdf-services-api-delisting-from-aws-marketplace/td-p/13784035

    2) For folks who have contacted sales and not gotten a response, please email me directly (jedimaster@adobe.com) and I'll forward you to the person handling those responses. We _are_ responding to the contact form, but it's possible some were missed, or we haven't gotten to you yet, etc. But I'll help you out.

    3) PDF Services API is 100% still supported by Adobe, the ONLY change here was the ability to sign up and pay via AWS. You can still use our services anywhere (AWS, Azure, etc), but you will need to get credentials here, and for paying customers, work with Sales.

    4) Lastly, we are working on a free tier (not trial), and will be able to share more details in the upcoming weeks.

The only option now is to buy the APIs direct from Adobe.  The minimum number of API calls they sell is 500,000 at $0.05 each, so $25,000/year.

There is a little more information here. https://developer.adobe.com/document-services/faq/sales/#ordering

Where did you find the 500,000 number? Was that from a sales rep?

I got this number from sales.

I have tried contacting sales, so I can buy these API calls, but I have not received any response from them.

Same. Very strange to hear this from Amazon and nothing from Adobe. Absolutely nothing about what comes next for what is now an obviously discontinued product.

    1. Is the product dead ended? No future versions/updates?

    2. Is the Amazon infrastructure service provider being replaced with another provider like Azure or Google?

    3. Dates or plans?

@9185615 can you comment on what the future of this product is please?

Ignore this, I see you have answered it already (I can't delete my post).

Same here. Email came from Amazon Web Services. Maybe Adobe is not working with them on it anymore and that's why there is so little information? I subsribed the Adobe newsletter pinned at the top of the discussion board. I'd think there would be a more obvious place for this announcement from Adobe.

Same concern for us. It's not really clear what does this change imply and what action will need to be taken.

As for you I think, the email part that affects us is:  Adobe Systems Software Ireland Limited will only provide applicable support through August 9, 2023. You can continue to use the product (Adobe PDF Services API (International)) after that date, but it will no longer be supported by Adobe Systems Software Ireland Limited.

It would be nice to have clarifications and more details about this change.

We received this as well, which is incredibly frustrating as Adobe just made us switch to using the AWS Marketplace a few months ago when Adobe made us update our calls to the new API.

Our project will need to find a more reliable platform for our document processing integrations.

Same for me.  Our purchasing manager forwarded the email to me asking if it affected us and I'm like "Uhhh... I didn't think we used AWS, but maybe it does under the hood."
