Adobe Stock AI files Uneditable AND Unusable

I realized pretty quickly that most  AI files available on Adobe Stock were worthless to me if I wanted to edit them in Illustrator. When I resave the file, even if nothing is changed, all of the effects are ruined.

But, sometimes the file is unusable even if I never open it.
For example:

This is a nice snowfall, but when I placed it in my file it has brown circles and lines in it. They look like they correspond to paths inside the file.
It's really frustrating that the previews don't match what I'm given.

      Working with the stock files can be a little tricky. I just authored a course for Pluralsight on using Adobe Stock Images (it's not released yet, but coming soon). The quick short answer is to either embed or edit original  in Illustrator. This screenshot is from CC 2018, if you are still using CC 2017, the buttons are at the top of the screen in your control panel.

      I don't know how well you know Illustrator--you may be an expert--but I just downloaded this stock image and found it 100% editable. If you have questions as to how to edit a clip group or a mesh object or a group or anything, please ask in the Illustrator forum.

      It also looks fine in InDesign. I placed it at 100%, properly linked. You can also ask in the InDesign forum. A lot of people use both.

      What are you seeing that I am not?

        Well, I posted a screen shot of the brown circles. I just ended up using

        another file.

        Hi there,

        I have just received an update from the team and it seems the file is absolutely fine and there are no brown circles or lines noticed.

        We have tried to download the file in different versions but they all seem fine.

        Would you mind checking it again?

        The brown circles don't show up in Illustrator but when I place the file in

        InDesign and use a high display performance it is laced with brown circles.

        It's a pretty common problem with Adobe Stock illustrator files. Not brown

        circles necessarily, but just that they don't work as intended. And in your

        photoshop files I am forever purchasing stock images isolated on white only

        to find that whoever clipped them out did such a bad job that the file is

        worthless.

        We purchase a monthly plan and currently don't even come close to using all

        of our images each month, so for the moment I've just been purchasing a

        different stock photo because I could figure out how to contact Adobe about

        it and neither could my manager.

        Do I need to post on the forum every time we get a bad file? There doesn't

        seem to be any system in place to flag a file that is essentially worthless.

          Since these are vector files that you are licensing, Adobe Illustrator would be the best app you use them with.
