Question

AI file opens as a raster image instead of editable vector

Hello,

I downloaded an AI file from Adobe Stock, but when I opened it in Adobe Illustrator, it appeared to be a raster image rather than an editable vector file.

I cannot select or edit individual paths, objects, or shapes, so the asset cannot be used as a vector file as advertised.

Asset ID:
AdobeStock_1966179019

I downloaded this asset expecting an editable vector file, but in its current state it is not usable for its intended purpose.

Please review the file, and if there is a problem with the asset, I would like to request a refund.

Thank you.

I’ve been having the same issue. I contacted Adobe support and their auto-reply system emailed me back instructions that I should open the .svg file in Illustrator instead of Photoshop, but, duh, I told them I was opening them in Illustrator, not Photoshop, and they were raster files. So frustrating! To be clear, these were .svg files downloaded from search results that were filtered as “vector” images only.

Yes, it is frustrating when assets are mislabeled.

Go back to Adobe Customer Support. Tell the agent you want your credits refunded because the vector graphic (give them the asset ID) wasn’t what was represented.

Click the Chat icon, ask for an Agent.

    Good luck.
