Downloaded stock video but background is not transparent

I downloaded this video and it says it has a transparent background, but when I add it to Premiere Pro, the background displays black. Can someone explain why that is?

Here's the video downloaded: https://stock.adobe.com/Library/urn:aaid:sc:US:9f62da8f-4b6d-42c7-9c66-b004e13ab24d?asset_id=470622977

You should post the video ID, not a link to your private area.

There are 2 possibilities:

  • You licensed the HD version of the video. HD versions are created by Adobe and during the conversion, the alpha channel (transparency) gets lost because the codec used does not support transparency.
  • You licensed the 4k version of a video, and the video has been uploaded with a codec that does not support transparency. Indeed, transparency is supported by a few codecs only, and none of them is supported by Adobe, even if they work!

So, it is a lottery for the contributor to claim having transparency included. I would guess, that most of the contributors do not even know about the difficulty of this.
