I did take the free trial and cancelled and I got my cancellation confirmation and did not get charged.

You need to contact customer service. Adobe customer care can be contacted by beginning a secure chat session at https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?rghtup=autoOpen. If in doubt, ask the forum.

Contact Adobe Customer service directly with your proof that you indeed cancel the subscription, and they will refund the charge.
