Question

How to credit editorial photos in a tiktok

I'd like to use some editorial use photos in a tiktok video I am producing. The license terms are very confusing as to how I am supposed to provide credit. Which of these are acceptable ways to provide credit:

  1. Can I add the credit line for each photo in my video description? Is that OK?
  2. Can I add a written credit to each picture I show while on-screen? Is that OK?
  3. Can I add a brief (0.5 seconds or less) text overlay at the end of the video, which has the credits for all of the images I used? Is that OK?

Which should I use? I am disappointed that no discussion around how to use them for mobile videos is included in the licensing terms.

I realise there is all sorts of work in Tiktok, so I'll mention this. Bear in mind that you cannot use "editorial use" photos in an entertainment. They can only be used to illustrate an article or discussion or educational piece, related to the subject of the piece.

The licensing terms say that you should credit at a place where credits are appropriate. This is a flexible clause, and gives you many possibilities. So do what is normally done in the industry. Either show the credit when the picture is shown, or show the credit at the end of your film. You should, however, show the credits in your film, as your description and the film can probably be detached and the credits won't be visible anymore. And if you show other credits, the Adobe stock credits should be shown in a similar fashion and prominence.

(Disclaimer: As always with licensing, this is my interpretation of the rules. I think they are correct and advice is based on reading and interpreting the licence terms and on fair use for both the buyer and the artist/stock company, but I cannot rule out that my interpretation is wrong. I'm not an Adobe employee).
