I want to license a Stock image for commercial use but I have an educational license

Hi,

I have an educational license to Adobe Stock. I previously licensed a Stock image for education but now I need to use it commercially. I have purchased some Stock credits but I cannot find a way to spend them so that I can properly (legally) use the image. When I try to use it I am told that it is licensed already so I cannot license it again - but the license is for educational use only!

Is there a way to extend the license on the image so that I can use it commercially?

What you’re running into is that Adobe Stock treats each license type separately. Once an asset has been licensed under an educational plan, it can’t simply be “upgraded” to a commercial license through the same record. That’s why the system tells you it’s already licensed.

The usual way around this is to license the same image again using your paid credits, but in some cases the portal won’t let you do that because it recognizes the prior license. The cleanest solution is to reach out to Adobe Stock Support, they can either guide you through re-licensing the same asset under your commercial credits, or issue a fresh license so you’re fully covered legally.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a one-click “extend license” option, but Support can confirm the proper steps so that you’re safe for commercial use.
