Question

Is an asset used on a Youtube/Vimeo video limited to 500,000 views OR unlimited

Hi all,

Is an adobe asset covered under a standard licence, that has been used in a video and posted to Youtube or Vimeo, limited to 500,000 views? Or since it is web/social media is it unlimited views? Seems like a bit of a grey area based on the wording in the screenshot below. A youtube video could be considered a broadcast, which is limited, or a social media/web upload, which is not limitted. Just want to make sure I am communicating accurate info to a client.

Thanks

What is the definition of social media, and what is the definition of broadcast? I would go with what is generally accepted: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YouTube

Look here for more information on licensing: https://community.adobe.com/t5/stock/links-for-licensing-terms/td-p/11366788
(Disclaimer: As always with licensing, this is my interpretation of the rules. I think they are correct and advice is based on reading and interpreting the licence terms and on fair use for both the buyer and the artist/stock company, but I cannot rule out that my interpretation is wrong. I'm not an Adobe employee).

Thank you. I did review those links and pulled that image from there. Still not a definitive answer, but it will do. Wikis definition of a broadcast could also cover Youtube, but seems to be more live/terrestial in focus. I personally never considered YouTube to be Social Media until I researched a bit more. I suppose there is little  difference in me posting the video to Facebook versus Youtube. I really wish Adobe could elaborate a little more, but I know they have their reasons. The lines become quite blurred when working in an online space that combines many mediums.

Thanks for your input 🙂

I consider YouTube as social media. But I suppose at the time, when the licencing terms were written, the difference was still clear.
