Question

La licence académique est-elle une licence étendue ? / Is the academic license an extended license ?

Agathe

Hello, I’m contacting you about a question I have on Adobe Stock.
Currently I have an academic license as part of my studies that allows me to download images unlimited.
However, I am looking for images that I can use in commercial settings (for postcards creation in particular). So, when I searched for images I selected the filter "for commercial use". However, when I download the files it is not specified whether commercial use is allowed or prohibited.

Can I use the images in a commercial setting by simply selecting the filter "for commercial use" or do I need a special license?

Thank you in advance for your reply,
Agathe

All images are available for commercial use, except those specifically tagged as Editorial. The Usage Rights filter on the left side of the Buyer portal screen allows you to select Commercial only.

However, if it is your intent to simply print the images on a postcard for sale, NO license type, standard, enhanced or extended, permits that. Here are the terms:

You may NOT:

"Create merchandise, templates, or other products for resale or distribution where the primary value of the product is associated with the asset itself. For example, you can't use the asset to create a poster, t-shirt, or coffee mug that someone would buy specifically because of the asset printed on it."

Hi, thank you for your answer !

Actually, I wanted to mix some parts of the images with another background and some text, so it's not "only" the image but another composition.

The image would, of course, be a part of the creation but it's not the only reason why people would buy the card I think.

In this case, is it okay to use it for commercial purpose ? (I think I saw the production is limited to 500 000 copies, but it seemed okay to use the images)

If the licensed image is only a part of the design, and not the sole reason for purchasing  the postcard, I believe it will be okay.
