Question

Licencing audio for podcast

I'm a bit confused by the licencing terms for audio:

  • Would Spotify count as a paid access streaming service for which standard licence wouldn't suffice? Spotify does have a free version with ads (same as YouTube, which is explicitly permitted in the FAQ) but just wished to confirm.
  • Do I need to get an additional licence for each episode of the Podcast (the music would be used for the intro) or do I need just one, for the whole series?

Check the terms of the licence, and check if your podcast is covered. The terms can't enumerate every service available, so you need to work by analogy.

You do not need to relicence for each episode, except it you hit some other limit. You could even use the same audio for a completly different project for the same client (you should think in terms of clients. Even if it is for you, you are one client).

Look here for more information on licensing: https://community.adobe.com/t5/stock/links-for-licensing-terms/td-p/11366788
(Disclaimer: As always with licensing, this is my interpretation of the rules. I think they are correct and advice is based on reading and interpreting the licence terms and on fair use for both the buyer and the artist/stock company, but I cannot rule out that my interpretation is wrong. I'm not an Adobe employee).
