Media Replacement Transition Downloads

The transitions available in Adobe Stock almost all require media replacement. Which is wildly inconvenient in a sequence of 5 or more clips - especially if you've applied characteristics to them (scale, position, etc.) 

With the downloadable transitions, you're just at the mercy of the transition and have almost no control over many things. Am I just using them incorrectly?

Here is an example. I find every transition out there now adopts this method. There must be a better way.
