I'm new to this but I knew Adobe had the disk to buy. What happened to that and why do we have to subscribe?

Whatever the question is, I think you should reformulate, as what you say does not make much sense.

If you want to buy the software, you need to look into the Elements series: https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements.html#. And that now is also a kind of subscription program, as you can buy a 3-year licence, but non-recurring. I suppose that at latest after 3 years you can buy an upgrade.

Adobe converted to the subscription model over a decade ago. You don't have to use Photoshop to become a Stock Contributor; you can choose some other editing software.

Adobe began selling its applications as a subscription service 13 years ago.

A friend of mine out me on to Adobe. We're both artist and are into comics. I saw he took his pencils, scanned it and changed it from graphite to non photo blue line which of the programs had Thai feature?  I'm thinking photoshop, but I want to make sure

Without seeing an example, it could be the result of any number of applications or processing steps.
