I used a photo for a background image. The only modification I did to the background image was cropped it to fit my image I placed in there. I am still required to do the photo credit with the artist/Adobe Stock, correct? I am sharing the image I created on social media. I will not be making a profit from it. The photo credit is not on the image, but in the text. Is this acceptable?

Sorry for the delay in response.
If I understand correctly, you are using an Adobe Stock image for creating a background and posting it on social media. If using an unmodified image, you must include a credit line to the photographer. The credit line(photographer's name) which you should mention on the image should be "© [Photographer's Name] /Adobe Stock."
If using a modified image, the credit line becomes optional. The image is considered modified when the final modified version of the image shows no resemblance to the original image.
To answer your question, just cropping the image won't consider it as modified so I would suggest you to put the credit line to the photographer. You must include the credit line on the image itself. It can be anywhere in the picture(right or left ).
